I got it from santa....played through to act 5. Very very well done game. The overall production quality of this game is impressive and thorough. The music, straight from the movies! The voice acting, from the real actors (with new dialog and some recycled from the movies), the GFX, and yes....the gameplay. It will not win any awards for redesigning the RTS genre, but I'll tell you what.....its the most fun I've had playing a RTS in a long time.

Looking foward to playing the evil campaign :D

awesome game. i agree that it might not be perfect from a strategy standpoint, but the level of detail and attention to the "living" environment is better than any other strategy game i've seen. more than worth getting just to see gandalf's word of power and watch the balrog rip down the enemy gate.

Helm's deep was tough and I had to redo it twice. What worked for me was to go heavy on cavalry as the archers I built would inevitably get swarmed and get cut to pieces by infantry with scaling ladders, which you can't really kill fast enough to keep any orcs from getting up the walls. If you have 5 or 6 batallions of rohirrim you can let them take the walls, park your heroes into the inner keep, and charge along the walls and mow down the huge hordes of orcs. If you get a blacksmith and upgrade those riders, they can even stand up against the pikeman long enough pulverize them. As an added bonus, they can take out those ballista really quick as well. They did breach the deeping wall and kill all the buildings by the time eomer got his army there, but once he gets there he can easily swarm the enemy camps and crush them if you have built him up a even half decent army.

The reviews have been luke-warm, so the last thing I need is another standard RTS. Unfortunately, it's hard to separate fans of LotR with LotR:BME. I remember when SW: Battlegrounds came out and so many people went ga-ga over it (not so much on this board, but other gaming boards). Well, that came from the SW fanbase......the game itself isn't very good. I'll wait for the LotR:BME demo.

I just finished the LOTR:BME good campaign. It is fun. It dogs my system though in big battles, especially Helms Deep and the Black Gate... (P4 2.53, 9800Pro)

Save often, I would be just about done with a level and then I would leave a Hero in a bad spot and if not paying attention he would get swarmed and killed. oh that sucked.

You're not the only one. The best I've done is get to about the 2 minute mark before the reinforcements show up. I've tried several times. Plan to try a new strategy tonight.

I don't really like it that much, the AI sucks. You always have tp watch your units or they'll do something stupid. I also hate that ur units wont defend themselves if attacked
