Do you live close to any kind of wilderness? I doubt someone would get angry if you were to go bury your pet.

Man, I'm sorry toi hear your kitty passed while you were away. If it were me, I think a plastic bag for fluid leakage and an Ice chest would be sufficient to hold him until tomorrow. Maybe a cardboard box in the trunk of the car if it's cold enough.

Geez, it's a dead animal carcass. Stick it in a plastic trash bag and throw it in the dumpster out back. We aren't talking about a human body. :roll:

I am not unfeeling when it comes to pets. I have disposed of the bodies of several beloved dogs I have enjoyed for many years. It's just a damn carcass, though. It doesn't know where its decaying flesh is and wouldn't care, any more than most people care about what happens to their bodies after they die.

If the OP is that sensitive then by all means preserve the body and spend a walletful on a formal burial at a pet cemetary. Each to his own.

Okay, in all seriousness, stick it in a plastic trash bag and put it in the fridge or freezer. It won't contaminate anything.
 
cremation seems best to me.. if you can keep him until tomorrow.

I am so sorry about your cat. what a sad homecoming. 🙁

Guys, I'm not going to like bury him. But, I'm not going to toss him in a dumpster where he'll get crushed either. I'm in between the 2 extremes. I mainly just want to know where to take him to be disposed of "properly." The ashes aren't going to sit on our mantle, but I'm not tossing him in w/ pizza boxes and stuff.

I guess either the SPCA or the local pet cremator guy can take him tomorrow. I'm guessing it shouldn't cost more than $50...? It's going to be 17 degrees here tonight, so he'll be fine in the plastic bag/towell/old VCR box outside on our porch tonight. I'll deal w/ it tomorrow. Thanks for all the suggestions, and wobbuffet, I don't hate you.

In all seriousness - just go to a field and bury him At least you will know how he is treated - and it will be between you and him. You really never know how he will be treated by strangers that have no vested emotional interest in the body after you pay and leave.
