Jesus, there are a lot of pricks on ATOT (full of themselves too). THose grades aren't the best, but theyre quite a bit above average and pretty damn good IMO.

They're good if you've accepted a life of mediocrity. Unless of course bootymac is a nationally ranked tennis player or a world renowned violinist and is too busy practicing to study.

i think you've fell for the indoctrination that education is the only mean to success.

but it probably is for bitter pimple farmers.

Of course it is not the only means to success but it is a good one since it can get you into better universities. But from what ive seen of averages, those who graduate from universities tend to be more successful than highschool drop outs. Of course this is a dramatization of bootymac's situation, but it illustrates the point more. Of course you can be successful without a highschool education, but it sure is a lot easier with one.

Now you make sense when you moderate.

Absolutely.

There is just no point in being an a$$clown about it...

Those grades are excellent, seriously. I don't know what is up the a$$es of these guys, but those are great grades. I know in highschool I was pulling 70-80's and they're not bad. Good job man, but I do apologize on behalf of these losers.

Those grades won't get you into many good universities. So for most people they aren't great. It's a matter of perspective.

No; The majority do not goto 'good' universities. In fact that is a tiny minority. So I'd wager those are excellent marks for anyone other than the elitist upper-class, such as yourself.

Those marks will get you into UofA, UofC, UBC...no problem. He'd only find difficulty in super competitive areas like medicine.

Probably not SFU for Engineering though, either.

And guys, don't be jealous that you could never get those marks in HS because you were too stupid or lazy, or toking up behind the bleachers. Jesus.

Most asian parents would demand their children to get good grades. I'm Korean myself.

Honest, I blew myself when I was an high school student. I could've made to National Honor Society but I ended up graduating high school with 3.44 GPA. :|

Right now, I'm a second-year student and my cumulative GPA is 2.4.

Meeeh... my french could've been a lot higher, but I screwed that one up. Same with my Math mark :frown:

All my mom had to say was "only 1 above 90%, stop playing games so much"

Typical Chinese parents

your chinese parents are lax. lucky.
most chinese parents would've beat you with the feather duster for grades like that. lol.

i know a guy who (when he was a freshman) got a 3.5 GPA (3 A's, 3 B's)

his mom let him keep his computer, but took away the monitor

she also let him keep his xbox . . . she took away the power cord

poor guy . . not only that, but 2 of the 3 B's he got were in honors classes

whatever helps him study! back in my days it was the SNES... my mom would never buy me one (no matter what grades I had)... :( so I earned 150$ and got a psx senior year then it went downhill. :p

PS: is this high school? If your a senior, these grades are damn good!

Are you kidding me?

Back in high school I was taking pure math/science.
90 in English
89 in Calculus
99 in Algebra
95 in Finite
85 in Physics
93 in Biology
95 in Religion
93 in Chemistry

Average was around 91, and yes, those were all the hardest courses offered at the school...

His marks are alright, but no where near "damn good"...

When people have 95-98 averages.. that's freaky.

Yeah... you also have to realize our high school gave out marks by the barrel full.. that's the exact reason why at UWaterloo our high school has a NEGATIVE adjustment factor to ALL averages submitted.

yeah, i'd say consider yourself lucky too.

My mom made me quit baseball in 7th grade after I got my first B of my life. If only she realized that, by quitting baseball and getting addicted to computers, I would eventually fail a class in 10th grade.

I was a damn good baseball player too :( Of course, I told her "well baseball takes up a lot of time, but so does violin, piano, and viola." But no... i couldn't quit any of those

I did decent in only my senior year of HS. The rest of HS was garbage.

3.8GPA my senior year. Combined, throughout of HS, it was like 2.2 or something. Basically, I needed to kick myself into gear during my senior year, if not, I would have failed ;). I had to "pass" with at least a 2.0 to graduate, and I had a 1.8 going into my senior year.

Grade 10 Quarter 1

History - 97
Biology - 95
Math (Algebra) - 87
English - 93
Spanish - 94
PE - 90
Typing Class - 98
Visual Basic Class (rofl) - 92

Averaged out to be 93.25

Too bad I'm doing much worse now, halfway through quarter and I bet I have some classes with 70 something averages right now. And I failed my science research paper for handing it in late :(.

Let me clarify... we went to the same high school.

And, UToronto didn't have to "adjust" anything. Besides, we both got in. Why are you complaining? Or was it because you didn't get in at first, and had to wait till summer to get late acceptance?

We had a good school fuelled by IB. It's obvious UW would adjust us negatively because of the polar amount of high students we had.

Pat deserved his 98 average. Or else he wouldn't be getting high 90s even in Waterloo.

I guess this is old, but a new batch of marks are out, I suppose.

My marks for first term were:

CS: 85
Philosophy: 81
Calculus: 81
Algebra: 71 (I did fine on the exam, but I got below 60 on both midterms due to stress)
English: 79 (Damn guy wouldn't bump it up to an 80..)

Final Avg: 79.3

I was impressed, but I wanted the A average, and I was real close.
