Question 144FPS 144Hz but not smooth gameplay and screen stuttering

please guys can you help me with my problem
I'm actually playing Fortnite with a constant 144 fps but it just feels unsmooth like if I'm playing with less than 60fps. My monitor is Benq XL2411P 144hz and I've been playing Fortnite smoothly for 1 year without problems.Fps shows 144 and Hz is also 144 in nvcp and display settings but the game is choppy and I notice some minor screen tearing. Vsync helped a bit but I can't play with that input lag as a competitive player.
I tried so many things like RTSS, reinstalling driver using DDU,reinstalling the game,format,fresh install of windows but nothing helped.
Please if anyone knows how to solve this problem don't mind helping me because it's really driving me crazy.
My specs:
Mobo: Msi H310M PRO-VD PLUS Intel® Core™ i5-9400F CPU @ 2.90GHz(3.9GHz in task manager while playing)NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 16 GB DDR4 2400Mhz 1T HDD 240 SSD 550W corsair PSU
I also noticed that when playing 60hz 60fps capped I get a lot of screen tearing
I think it could be a hardware problem but what exactly is causing this,is it my cheap mobo or maybe PSU?

You want to cap 2-3 fps below the refresh rate.

What is your frametimes like when at 144 fps? Unless it's steady, then the frame rate is not really showing the entire store. You may be having spikes in frametime which results in stutter.

Or maybe it's the "cheap mobo" or something with the video card or settings. All of those seem much more likely that going straight to thinking its the CPU.

Thank you so much for replying and I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong forum because it's my first time posting in forums.
Please I just want to know what can cause screen tearing other than GPU and MONITOR because I tried other monitors and I disabled my GPU in device manager and screen tearing is in my desktop aswell. Thank you so much guys I've been dealing with this problem for 3months and still didn't find a solution. You are my last hope.

In the nvidia CP do you have:
Low latency mode: Off
FPS limit: 141
Vsync: off

It might be helpful to record a video of what's happening if possible and post it on YT.

Okey I will try that but I think it's really a hardware problem since I reinstalled windows and formated the pc and tried every nvidia driver
Sure I will upload a ytb video to show you. I recorded a video in fortnite which shows a lot of screen tearing with 60FPS and 60Hz
I'm using display port and I also tried HDMI but the problem still persist

Im confused as to why youre at 60fps with 60hz when in the OP you said you play at 144 fps at 144hz.

They can be lots of reasons for screen tearing so...

Tearing happens when FPS exceeds the Refresh rate of a monitor.

Have you actually checked if you have 144 Hz refresh rate set in Operating System settings?

Yes, make sure the proper refresh rate is being set in the Windows settings, then you will want to make sure Vsync is on in the game or forced on through the Nvidia control panel. If you have the refresh rate set to 144 Hz but the game can't give you a steady 144 fps, you will get tearing and will need to lower the refresh rate setting in the operating system since this monitor doesn't support variable refresh rate.

Don't use the in game frame limiter for now, it will limit the frame rate but not necessarily sync up the game frame with the monitor refresh cycles, you need to make sure vsync is on for this to happen.

Because when I record with 144FPS 144Hz you will not notice it as much as with 60FPS 60Hz but it still exists

Yeaah but gsync monitors are a bit expensive, If I didn't find a solution I will buy one

Don't disable the graphics card in device manager, that just disables any 3d or acceleration provided by your graphics card and you will get tearing even on the desktop.

What is your refresh rate set to within Windows? What is your actual framerate in Fortnite?

Do not use the FPS cap, turn off the FPS cap and just turn on Vsync.

Yes when I use Vsync there is no more tearing but I can't play with that input lag. Can I get rid of this by upgrading something in my pc.

Turn FPS limiter to 141 FPS, in game.

That is all you need to do.

BECAUSE you have 144 Hz limit set, you get tearing because this disables FreeSync/GSync. You need to have 3 FPS lower framerate than monitor refresh rate limit for G-Sync(Nvidia), and 1 FPS below the nominal refresh rate of the monitor is enough for FreeSync(AMD GPU).

@JutsuFn You can try setting the cap to values just under 144 with Vsync off. Try 143, 142 141. This might reduce (but not eliminate) the tearing. Other than that you need a monitor that supports variable refresh rate so you can have no tearing with the fps cap set (again just below 144)
