1440p Worth over the reduction in FPS ?

I understand. I drop my monitor nearly all the way down to the desk, so it hides the stand anyway lol.

I ended up grabbing an Asus MG279Q (144hz/ Freesync, IPS). Crosses fingers.

Hey, I have a gtx 970 with 1440p IPS & it looks gorgeous & runs everything great. U don't need AA at this resolution as there aren't as many jaggies. Us old timers remember when AA was first released it was marketed as important for resolutions under 1080 where jaggies are the worst.

Tried doing 1080p and personally it doesn't look as crisp. 970 is perfect for 1440 with all modern games I play.

Of course 1080p doesn't look as crisp as it has less pixels and you're running it on a display whose native resolution isn't 1080p. Antialiasing is still very much needed for 1440p as well as 4K. Personally I think most games are fine with just FXAA or preferably SMAA which are nowhere near as big performance hogs as MSAA or DSR.

To each their own. I still remember when AA was first touted as an
800 x600 resolution & under feature. I don't notice any aliasing occurring @ 1440, and I sit 3ft from my monitor with 20/20 vision. But hey, some people are pickier than others.

I've tried FXAA but it blurs things too much for me. Again, to each their own.

Got it today and been tinkering. I had read many reviews about QC and dead pixels, but I guess I got lucky, screen in mint.

Screen looks amazing. Still figuring out how Freesync works. Apparently once you enable it, you can no longer go to 120/144 at all, but you can set your refresh to 90hz and leave it there. Going to play around some.

I tested a few games --- W3 and Alien Isolation.

I maxed all settings (minus hairworks) and saw something strange. I am supposedly getting consistent 90fps in W3. I didn't expect that. It doesn't FEEL like 90fps. AI also shows 90, but will dip here and there to the 50-60 range, but it feels much smoother than W3 does. They both look amazing at 1440p though.

So far I am happy with my purchase.
