Circuit City Lists this offer online. Also available in stores. There are details about the form of this offer what you can buy. There are not details on how the discount applies. Excludes ad500 models.

Example: buy APEX AD660 or AD600a for 139.99 and get 140 in savings...
(The AD600A is not on the web site, but still available in the stores -- you may have to ask for it...

The coupons aren't that big a deal, $5 off select DVD's with the rebate coupon. The AD660 is a decent player, I bought one and really like it. The 600's have been sold out for a long time, the 500's can be flashed to the hidden menu's, so can the AD703 which is the 3 disc changer. I heard the 660 has a better quality drive and converter.

bigdude: what do you mean that it can be "flashed" to the hidden menus? I have been looking for a region/macrovision free DVD player, but the genica and (i think orbitron made one also) didn't seem like good enough quality, and I can't seem to find any of the older apex players with the hidden menu. How can I make a 703 macrovision and region free?

The AD600A is still hiding at some stores.
Thanks for the extra info. I couldn't find it. This can still
make it for someone that would like a little something extra. $140/5 is a lot of discounts. Even if you used only half of them it sweetens the
deal....

"Flashed" describes the process of giving your player new firmware.
In this case I believe it means that you can burn a CD with new firmware.
Put it in your player and it will update it's internal Flash(Reprogrammable
Memory).

I knew it was possible for AD660 and AD703?, but haven't seen it on the 500.

I don't know of any AD600A's with flash memory.

Check the link for the information....

It mostly depends if MP3 playing off your CD or VCD or SVCD is exciting
for you. Check the Apex site about tips for recording MP3's on your CD Burner. Also tomshardware had a guide for making VCD & SVCD from
various video sources.

Note, only the AD-500A can be flashed via CDR/CDRW to support the "loophole" menu and to add mp3 support. The AD-500 and the AD-500B are completely different animals from each other and from the AD-500A.

My friend just bought an AD600A at the BIG Kmart. Although I cannot believe that they are charging $180 for this now after a regular price of $139 and on sale for $129 just a couple of weeks ago.
