Going to school. Gabbing on the phone. Shopping. Doing a few chores only after getting nagged by parents. These are just a few of the things that the average American teenage girl likely does in her day-to-day route. But life for a gypsy teen isn't quite the same.
TLC's new eight-part series, "My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding," takes a look at the gypsy communities in our country, and Sunday's episode follows 14-year-old Priscilla of Douglasville, Ga., a romanichal gypsy whose parents have raised her according to their culture.
What does that mean?
"I believe in a gypsy culture, gypsy beliefs, that the women stay home," her mom, Louann, tells the cameras in an exclusive sneak peek TLC shared with TODAY.com. "They clean, they take care of the husband. That is our job, and that's the way I raised Priscilla to be."

It didnt shock me. When we discussing sex ed I remember our teacher saying he knew a girl who got pregnant in the 5th grade. Blew my mind that not only COULD a 5th grader get pregnant, but that she was sexually active as well.

Then, a buddy of mine got one of our friends pregnant the summer after 6th grade. Again, mind blown. In one summer how do you progress from talking, to dating, to holding hands to kissing, to sex?

So when I saw a bunch of preggos in high school I wasnt exactly surprised anymore.

By the time Thirteen came out I was pretty numb to the idea of sexually active kids.

Remember when I was like 13 or so and some gypsies moved into our apartment complex. They all dressed trashy and acted bizarre. I remember everyone in the complex disliking them but at the time I could not understand why. One time shortly after they moved in a bunch of the kids that lived in the complex were playing behind their apartment and the gypsy girls came up to the window and started flashing their breasts and lifted up what must have been an 8yo or so and pulled her dress up and gave us a show through the window. The other thing that was strange was that when they moved in it was into three separate apartments all at the same time and they had a limo with gold rims as a daily driver. My mother told me to stay the hell away from them.
