'A 14-year-old missed his bus and it nearly cost him his life.

Things took a dangerous turn when Brennan Walker went looking for help at a Rochester Hills home Thursday morning and was confronted by a man with a gun.

Walker was trying to walk the bus route to Rochester High School after he woke up late and missed his bus. His mom had taken his phone away, so he didn't have that with him to get directions. So he knocked on a stranger’s door for help -- and almost paid for it with his life.'

'"It is just absurd that this happened," says Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard. "I feel terrible for the young man; I feel terrible for the mom and the anxiety that they had to go through. We are going to ask for every charge permissible for this guy, who stepped up and fired a shotgun because someone knocked on his door."

Kid was lucky the old man was a bad shot, old man should be spending a long time in jail imo

He walked up to the house because it had a neighborhood watch sign and he thought it would be safe.

The woman who answered basically shrieked , “Why are you trying to break into my house.” Her husband then came down with a gun and fired on the kid

The home owners had a Ring video camera doorbell. On it the woman could be heard saying “why did these people choose my house”.

While the police seem to be doing the right thing what do you want to bet there ends up being no punishment for either home owner.

Just a tip but if the first and only thing you think of when a black teen comes to your door in the day time is they are breaking in, you are a racist.

When people talk about defensive gun use to prevent crimes you should be aware that it’s extremely likely that the homeowners would describe this as ‘defensive’.

What if your home had been broken into recently by a black teen?

the sad news is that this kid wasn't killed, because then this couple would be lionized by the NRA and the ammosexual righties because of their in-contradictable story about how they were being terrorized by this evil young black criminal.

Yet another potential hero for the gun lobby lost to us all, due to the inconvenient survival of a black teenager. 🙁

All this punishment for the husband is deserved but the wife deserves something to from her irrational response. If she had not acted so irrationally, none of this would have happened.

Perhaps 10,000 hours of community service doing community service in a black neighbourhood.

also, there's a telling social commentary that the kid has no idea how to get to school. by 14 i knew every single street, alley, loading dock, bike path, creek bank, underpass, etc, along with several of the storm sewers, in every neighborhood for several miles in any direction around my house.

I was thinking of buying a dog from a breeder in the sticks but if that's how people react.. fuck that. I'm not knocking on any home to find directions for a breeder if I might get shot.. and we know how good cellular is in the sticks.

Come here to say this, I won't go as far as saying I know everything but I sure don't have to ask for direct if you drop me anywhere between home and school. Just by look up the Sun I will know which way to go.

What does your question have to do with anything?

Not really. My school was something 14 miles away from home by bus. No way I could walk it or find my way there on my own.
