man i would probably be in jail for life
i used to draw huge pictures of people and stuff that spanned an entire desk, none of my teachers ever cared and if they asked I'd always kindly erase it or whatever ( I only ever used pencils ) they would tell me that they'd rather see drawings on the desks than people scratching those huge lines in them

Ditto that lol, arrested for drawing on the desk the word okay. lol

Maybe if shee carved it with a rambo knife in foot high letters. unbelievable.

I definately think the school should be punished for such abusive and excessive action taken on a 13 year old female. Maybe if it was a 200 lb mean looking boy that frightened the crap out of the teacher but in that case the teach would probably have overlooked it.

Of course maybe she threw a fit and told off the teacher and the principal. Who knows

Can the parents of the other students have the principal arrested for causing a disruption in class and wasting everyone's money?

Wow. I've been in public school all of my life in this country. Currently a college freshman.

WTF. The most we got for that in elementary school was to scrub it off and then we had to stay in and clean up the other kids' messes at recess (and that was only if was really bad).

Middle school we would just have 30 min of after school detention, and High School no one gave a sh!t.

WTF.
I think at my school the teacher would have said, "Erase that!" and that would have been the end of it. Pen or pencil usually erases from those desks.

It's a good thing she doesn't watch South Park. If she wrote "Mmmkay?" on the desk, they'd probably have interpreted it as a gang sign or terroristic threat, and she'd be in the CIA's tender mercies now.

True dat, back where I went to school, to get arrested you must have done something really fvcked up like beat the crap out of a teacher or something, which incidentally happened to my friend when the Chemistry teacher was being as ass to him and gave him a little shove when he was on his way to the principle's, haha that was a funny fight Chemistry teacher ended up with his ass in the trash bin  though don't let that fool ya he got a nice little scar on his face to commemorate the event. As far as I know he was the only teacher that I have come across in school that deserved a beating!

They even say it was just because of graffiti; they didn't even say that that "okay" could be interpreted as a message to do something bad.

NYC has a reward for information leading to the arrest of a graffiti artist...I hope the principal is enjoying his $50. D!ck.

yeap!

i remember being able to carry knives to school. a few times having the teacher ask if i had mine so he could open something. You could not bring in something silly. but a regular pocket knife was ok.

oh if we got caught doing something like this in school we had to clean ALL the desk after school.

Hell, even most pens erase off desktops easily.

That principal is an idiot.

It does seem a bit over the top IMO...Some detention, maybe scrubbing everyone's desk in the classroom TOPS...However, there may be more to this than we currently know. MAYBE the principal just doesn't like Puerto Ricans...MAYBE she was involved with the other "troublemakers who had plastered stickers all over the classroom." and is just denying it...

pocket knives were also allowed at my school (all of them), as they are considered tools as opposed to weapons. Being seen carving a desk would've been vandalism though, and then you would've been screwed.
