Ha. ;)

It has been a brutal day for all out running....almost 75'F/24'C all friggin' day. A/C running almost non-stop overnight and today....
It was 33f this am, all windows open, only up to 45k the high. Perfect for folding.

I'm giving her all she's got, captain! And I need every bit of heat I can get to keep my apartment warm.

Supposed to stay below freezing for the next 60 hours or so.

Sooo, when are we done? I saw it was supposed to end at 12AM Jan1 UTC - which it's almost 5AM UTC now.

I'm excited to see the results. As a last hurrah, I just downloaded a 14124. I'll finish it up in 6 hours :)

Hi folks,
At last I have internet connection - not a good one ... but still. I see that the stats master wizard Stefan5R5 has done the stats admireably (Thank you, stefan!!). I will not be able to do the final stats due to the time difference (I am 12 hours ahead of UTC) and due to the really slow internet connection.
Anyhow,, Mark&Mods were in the lead according to the last stats ..
It will be at least 9 more days before I can reliably connect to the net.
On the other hand - I've been in a wilderness I could not have imagined. Consider being at the leading edge of a glaceir after having walked first 2½ hours through a subtropical rain forrest and then approx. 1 hour through a stony wilderness (left by the retreating glacier ...
Anyhow, I may be telling more later ...
Thanks for a great race with a tremendous production and see you all (hopefully) for the 14th Annual Folding@Home Holiday Season race in December 2019!

Damn, seems I missed a chunk of the race :(, sorry for not being about for a while, got sidetracked

Yes biodoc and I thought one more. Assimilator ?

Err, I've been in your team since near the start :p;)

I just messed around with trying to get my old HD5850 up and folding on Linux Mint...uh, no joy, but it was fun to goof around.

I was hoping the extra PPD would help, but it seems that the GPU is far too legacy for Linux and F@H. I bet it would only crunch a few thousand PPD at this point.

That HD 5850 would be good at Milkway@H or Einstein@H :)

And here are the final stats of TeAm AnandTech's 13th Annual Folding@Home Holiday Season Race on 2019 January 1st, 12:00 UTC. This took a while because I had to wait for the lab to return the developed film of the finish photo...

The individual and team standings:

standings.png

Day-by-day production of the two sub-teams:

production.png

Individual production of the racers during the last dozen of days:

m+m.png ato.png

Output of the entire TeAm AnandTech; daily/ monthly:

TeAm_production_day.png TeAm_production_month.png

As far as your humble stats taker can tell, we have not just one, but five winners!
  1. Biggest winner: Science! The Folding@Home project received 1,601,614,227 points worth of results from the racers.

  2. Congratulations to TeAm AnandTech for a new record month, with 1,864,317,276 points in December 2018!

  3. Congratulations to team Mark&Mods for finishing first in the intra-team race with 801,364,646 points!

  4. Congrats also to team All the others for almost tying with 800,249,581 points. Getting this close to the team which has a certain Mark_F_Williams on it borders onto an impossible achievement IMO. :-)

  5. And congratulations to @Markfw who, as expected, turned in by far the biggest individual production with 547,329,872 points in this race. Over the entire year 2018, Mark made mindblowing 3,999,677,308 points in Folding@Home, which is 40 % of TeAm AnandTech's 9,963,214,363 total points in 2018. :-O
Cheers!
Thanks a lot to all who participated, and a happy new year to you all!

Thanks for the stats Stefan :)
And good race folks, it was very close in the end! Even my little 6.5 mill output made a difference to the race outcome!, just as well I remembered to join in in time :).

I told ya to fear the HD 7870 XT DS ;)

My output may have been down slightly last night, I paused my single RX 470 board and Ryzen R5 1600 CPU (10 CPU threads) from Folding, to let it finish up the WUs, so that I could remove the card and box it up, which I didn't end up doing until this morning when I woke up. So I just got back from the Post Office and an appt., and plugged in a fresh new (mining edition) Sapphire RX 470 4GB in its place, which is now Folding again, whew. (Unfortunately, I have it hooked up to a 4K UHD 40" display, and ... the card only has a single DVI-D port, which I've attached an ATI-branded DVI-D to HDMI adapter, and the Windows driver is only giving me 1080P60, not 4K30, for some reason. Grr.) ....

This seems to be a common limitation, I'm looking at getting a DP to HDMI adapter, the ones I've seen so far are limited to 1920x1200 too, see this one
Maybe only HDMI ports can do 4k? [edit] Nope, DP can too, IDK why DP to HDMI is limited to 19x12 then.....

@Assimilator1, Club3D is making active adapters from DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0a which are UHD@60Hz capable. There are also a few cheap passive adapters from DP++ 1.2 to HDMI 1.4 which should manage up to UHD@30Hz.

Cool, thanks! I've got to learn more about getting the BOINC client running. I'm pretty noob when it comes to all this. I'll make a new post.

Thanks for the stats guys! I know that takes time. We appreciate your effort in putting them together.

I can see a few tiny results you seem to have sent in. :)

I was also wondering about the times when your main machine seems to fail to complete work. Are you doing other stuff, or is it erroring out, perhaps from too high an overclock on the GPU? The first time I overclocked my GPU I got errors. If it's not you pausing F@H to do more important stuff, check your logs for errors.

Question about this: where do you see that there are times that it takes longer for work to complete? Is it a website?

I'm actually wondering if my eVGA software isn't causing instability.

Thanks!

My only recommendation is to use the EVGA software just to control the temp in a profile, but do NOT overclock them. I have 12 1080TI's and they are all EVGA FTW3's, and I have no issues with stability.

Good stuff thanks. I do use the eVGA Precision X software and I've had no issues either. I haven't had one WU get rejected that I can see in the logs. 12 1080TI's sounds like quite a bit of fun! You're kicking butt out there! What's the average power bill? :)

Over $600 a month, ad I am told power is cheap here in Oregon.
