UPDATE: Basicly a new question

I have this Sony TRV320 Camcorder
Specs:
http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Sony_DCR_TRV320

The DV Port on the camera stopped working. I tried over 3 cords on three separate computers, all of which worked perfectly fine before this problem had occured. Nothing abusive has happened to the camera and I have no idea why it had failed. However, I do not have weeks to search around for a repair shop, or money for a replacement camcorder. I went out and bought this

Dazzle 90 Creator
http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/u...eo/Dazzle/Digital+Video+Creator+90.htm

Which would allow me to connect the Camcorder's S-Video port instead of the malfunctioning DV/In port in my camcorder that would connect to the computer's 1394 port.

However, I installed the software (nothing mentioned of drivers on the Cd, just a very basic 'getting started movie editor'). Anyways, after I plugged the Dazzle Converter into the back USB port on my computer, connected my new 17 dollar s-video cable from radio shack to the camcorder and to the converter.. turned the camcorder on, went into MY movie editor Sony Vegas 6.0a, and it still had asked me to 'Connect a Device', the same thing came up with Windows Movie Maker 2.0, and the Pinnacle Movie Editor provided in the box. I don?t know what?s wrong.

I changed the imput from composite to s-video in the Pinnacle Movie Editor. After three seconds my computer freezes. I've always hated the Pinnacle Movie Editor and I'd like to know how to allow the importation of s-video into vegas 6.

The problem when i go into vegas:

The following is assuming (since Pinnicle Studio did) is looking for composite video, however i dont know how to change it s-video.

Picture Captions:
1) Everytime I go to 'video' it gives me that error that is in the center of the screen. A bullet will NOT appear by the dazzle dvc90* video device.
2) For some reason a bullet will appear next to the dazzle dvc90* audio device, but again the error in the center of the screen will appear.

I feel many of you pulling away from this thread because of a state of confusion. i really dont know how to explain this better and i really want to capture this video.

I need to get this camera ready for importing by monday latest!!. If there?s anything I can do please don?t hesitate to reply. Thanks

Few things. Can't really tell exactly what it is off the bat, but you can try the obvious. Since you got the new cable, make sure your drivers are ok. Sometimes they become courupt. uninstall and then reinstall with the disk that came with the camcorder. You can also try different capture programs. What are you using to capture? Lastly are you trying silly things like plugging in the cable after the camera is on and also plugging it in and then turning the camera on, etc? I had this once. Did a fresh capture program install and it worked ok for me. But if your 1394 port is fried or something, it's all for naught. Mabye try using the port for something else to?

I tried the cord on multiple computers. The computers that I tried it on all worked fine with the 1394 cable before. I think the port or something INSIDE my camcorder may be defective, but the camera is way past warrenty, and I will do anything to fix it. I have these additional ports on my camera other than the "DV In/Out"

S-Video - ID-2
Audio Video - ID-2
LANC/Digital I/O

Other than that, I dont know. Im positive it isnt the drivers because as I said, I connected this camcorder to one of my other PC's and it had the same problem. All the drivers from all the computers I've tried it on couldnt have all gone corrupt at the same time. (CD/Software did not come with camera, strictly plug and play). If theres anything I can "buy" to quickly allow me to resume importing I need to do that, regardless of cost (Except buying a new camera lol).

PS: I need to have this camcorder ready by sunday/monday at the LATEST! So anything will do.

I bought this Converter Called Dazzle*
I bought this S-Video to S-Video Cable

I connected the Converter to the back of my computer in a USB Port.
I connected the S-video from the converter to my Camcorder.

I turned on the Capture Device in my movie editor (Sony vegas 6.0a), and it still says "Please Connect Camera or Device" like its not installed.

Any ideas? Thanks!!

Sorry, I hate USB capture devices as they do have problems, just like this. Either way, you will lose a lot of your detail using this capture technique if you get it working.

Since this is D8, your tapes will work in any other D8 camera (Sony licensed this to Hitachi). If you can find one that is cheap because maybe the lense was broken, you could use it. eBay might be your friend.

I understand where you are coming from. However, I dont have that option, I'll try to return the Dazzle software with the converter, i dont know if the software/hardware mix is 'non' returnable. Since people could illegally copy the software and return it. Nore do i know if i can return the s-video cable from radioshack. we'll see. but if there is a way to make do with what i have, please lemme know thx
