Not a bad deal at all. The rebate is only $30 so you don't have alot of cash tied up in it.

This is a good deal. I've had a couple of Compaq's like this one and never been disappointed. Unlike Toshibas, for instance, they have a good feature set. This is probably yet another release of the old 900 series. Not the most portable device out there but if I needed a laptop I'd be all over this deal.

Don't forget to hunt around for unpublished Compaq rebates. Sometimes you can find $100 rebates that even the vendors don't know about.

it's pretty good, but i have seen a 512MB RAM 15TFT compaq 2199us for 699 AR....so....it's ok without rebates...
