I had a similar problem with my Creative 8X4X32, I bought some 4-8X CDRW and it wouldn't burn to them. Also another time bought some 8-48X CDR same problem. I personally think that is has to do with the firmware. I checked the web site for update firmware, none ava. I ended up buying another drive and everything works fine now. I only hope that I don't run into the same problem with my NEC 4X DVD+r Burner.
