Um, let him go, if he comes back, he is yours for that day. In the morning, let him go again.....

My boyfriend and I have been together for 14 months now, and this has been an ongoing issue since the beginning. We're both 17. He wants to get a job and I don't want him to. I don't have a job, and I don't see why he wants to get one. He says he wants to get a job because he's gotta pay for his gas and car insurance, but he gets a pretty hefty allowance and always manages to have money leftover to spend on things like RAM and other computer parts, and yet he "never has any money." I do not want him to get a job. My dad obviously has a job, and I never see him. He works all the time and is always gone. I'm worried that if my boyfriend gets a job, I'll never see him either, especially since my parents are strict on when I can see him. He manages to have enough money to spend without a job, so why does he need to desert me to have more? Am I being selfish to want to see my boyfriend unlike I do my dad? Keep in mind guys that I am a senior and will be leaving for college next summer, as will he.

you definately sound immature

glad to see you're not yet an adult

What, you mean he doesn't want to leech of his parents? He wants to take control of his life instead of being a lazy fvck? Shame on him! You're totally right, you better set that boy straight.

And your parents won't let you get a job? They're almost as bad as you.

Boyfriends can do whatever they want (same goes for girlfriends, no sex discrimination here). You get to decide whether you like it or whether you get a new boyfriend who wants to spend as much time with you as you want him to. You have no power over him, but you have as much power over your own life as you want. Use it wisely.

oh man i hope this was a joke.

if not you need to get out more. you are his GF not his mommy. You have NO say if he gets a job or not. you are not worth keeping if you try to keep him from a job.

grow up and stop acting like a whiny little b!tch.

Obviously Chelsey needs a second bf. Keep the first one and collect presents/nice dinners/etc. The second one should be a jobless bum who will do nothing but spend time with you.

Maybe she can just pick up a homeless person and keep him tied in the backyard

And when she goes anywhere, she could walk him around school and the mall by his leash so she's never lonely.

We're not mean, I was honestly hoping this was a parody or joke... I don't agree with your parents' decision to not allow you to get a job. In fact, I think it's downright stupid. You benefit greatly from the experience, not to mention you would have money you earned yourself.

What is your parents' justification for not letting you get a job?

"Topic Title: Am I Selfish?
Topic Summary: Fight with Boyfriend"

I'm sorry girl. Get over the fact that your in a high school relationship (and yes my blanket statement is valid). I have been in one myself for 3 years and have realized that in the end people of my age are simply not mature enough to handle real relationships. Just fool around and have a good time while being safe. Don't get so hung up on one guy. Just my two cents.

This reply editted prior to hitting enter. I regret that I can't humor you fellow ATOTers by mocking some poor innocent 17 year old who is so sheltered. (not allowed to have a job, but free to have a boyfriend, and do the hippity dippity with?!)

You're being horribly selfish. He will make time for you, but he does need money. I read this and all I can see is "I want" and "Me."

I have a feeling someone is going to end up being just like Jessica Simpson, except she won't have money or fame or a stupid ass show to make up for the general lack of intelligence and drive it takes to live a normal life.
