There are so many references in Family Guy that you see, and you say, "holy sh!t, I can't believe they put that in there!" and they just move on without even drawing attention to it. So, it is over the top and crazy in your face, and yet at the same time subtle. Better than 99% of tv.
KOTH is funny in an existential kind of way, which means it is boring.

No kidding. This one isn't even close.

Family Guy > Futurama > The Critic > King of the Hill

The Simpsons, depending on the era, can fit in anywhere along that comparison...

A better contest would have been KOTH vs Futurama, Family Guy is just way too superior to KOTH

Futurama > King of the Hill also though

Both good shows, but I choose Family Guy. Sometimes my local FOX shows koth at 6:30pm (before that simpsons), right before the 7pm and 7:30 national FOX broadcast of king of the hill. Then Simpsons at 8pm. 2 hours of quality TV on Sunday for me.

In some respects, I'd say FG > Simpsons due to its VERY risque nature. The flashbacks are hilarious and the voices I don't think I can ever get tired of, especially Brian! I want a dog like Brian :X

Simpsons has been running for 10+ years, but honestly, I've outgrown the humor behind Bart/Lisa's whining of "PLZZZ" and "are we there yet?". Nothing new seems to be offered at the table. I watched a few episodes of new Simpson episodes last year, but DUDE, stale humor... and Bart's voice is getting very annoying.

Family Guy reminds me of Scrubs; both use flashbacks to accentuate the stupidity and hilarity of the present situation. I think the crown of animated comedy must be passed to Family Guy in my opinion.
Only 2 seasons and its erractic airing time during its debut swept me away.... and now I slack off at work watching the boss's Family Guy DVDs

If Peter Griffin wasn't in Family Guy it would be better, but he is just so annoying I've vote King of the Hill.

Little Stewy rocks...he should have his own show.

King of the Hill is one of the funniest shows on TV. It has a really subtle, deadpan humor that you won't get if you're expecting blunt, risque, Family Guy humor. I find myself laughing a lot harder at the Family Guy jokes though.

King of the Hill is a pretty good satirical show, in terms of its scope. It's from a secular, right-wing viewpoint, while Family Guy just makes fun of pop culture in general. But Family Guy is much better made, and its characters much less gross to look at.

KotH isn't nessecarily FROM a right-wing, secular viewpoint. I think it tries to be both satirical and subjective at the same time.
