that was a defense?
however, this type of 'sp33k' started when I was a kid online back in the 80's.
There are those that try hard now to use it everywhere, and those that reminisce in it having fun.
Well, technically, you could say it has been going on forever on calculators. But the reality is that most of these phrases were specifically coined in the 90s when IRC came out and Quake became the first online game with a major community.
Also, what the hell were you doing online in the 80s... especially as a kid.
irc in the 90's? These 'codes' esp. the 31337 (the OG 1337) on a 'room'/channel was commonplace by mid 80ish.
unix chat in the 80's and phone bridges were the place to be if nothing else was going on...many of these so called 'nerds' were in bands, partied, ..., on their off nights would come by and chat.
gfiles and the stuff of BBS's went worldwide then.
kimble of kimble.org was there, knight lightning, 8lgm, mod, LoD, etc was there. tymnet to lutz, altgiers, qsd, and more. MOD vs LoD hack wars with ComSec started.
I am a true oldy.
needless to say, I can't say the phone company and FBI didn't land at my home at a time long ago.
