i don't think it would be unethical unless you explicitly signed a contract that said you couldn't work directly for any of your clients.

as long as you didn't sign a non competition form then you should be okay.

as an anecdote I had worked as a programmer/network guy for a startup company a couple years back. They made us sign a non competition form so we wouldn't leave and go work directly with the clients. However, the thing is so poorly written (verified by several lawyer friends) that I'm still able to go ahead and solicit them for jobs.

i worked for that same kind of company u are at. owner decided to screw me over....well it was better since i found a much better job right away.

I havent been really wronged at this company other than not getting what I deserve and having some promises broken. I enjoy working with the people here, and we all have a good relationship.
