You forgot the part where Rumsfeld even stated that he knew where the WMDs were (mentioning Tikrit and Baghdad.)

The argument goes something like this...

"Well he was given bad info, it wasn't his fault."

Of course, after realizing the info was bad, we now get "The war was about liberating Iraq." Which, of course, is a (another?) lie. But there seems to be a good chunk of the population who accepts this. And then there is another section of the population who says "Waitaminit. That's not why you wanted our support in this war."

I think that the war resolution was sold to congress on the basis that war wouldn't really happen, that Saddam would be forced to capitulate under pressure. Brinkmanship....

As it turns out, if Saddam, his cabinet, and his top generals had all surrendered at the Kuwaiti border the day before the invasion, Bush would have gone ahead with it, to, uhh, maintain order, yeh, that's it.....

You pretty much got it right. At least in reference to the reasons GWB gave for the invasion and how THEY WERE ALL WRONG.

GWB was mad Saddam disrespected his daddy, and was looking for any reason to use US force in retaliation. It's kind of like a "Family Fued."

Then, why does public accuse Kerry and other politicians of voting for war? Obviously they believed the President like them.

Yes, they did. As did much of the world.

Do you ever wonder why the politicians who voted against it (it was far from unanimous) voted the way they did?

House vote = 296-133
Senate vote = 77-23

That's 156. They saw what the others did, correct?
