13 year old girl Tasered

The girl was handcuffed and placed into a patrol car, but she managed to slide her cuffed arms to the front of her. Police said she refused requests to put her arms behind her back and began kicking and screaming.

An officer attempted to subdue the girl with a neck lock, but was unable to get control of her.

Officer G.A. Nelson then used his Taser on her. When she continued to fight, and she was stunned again, according to the police report. She then complied and placed her arms behind her back.

Ok, so they tried soft empty hand and then used a tazer. Exactly what the use-of-force scale dictates. Would you rather they sprayed her with OC (causing lasting pain) or smacked her with a baton (risking serious injury or death)?

couldnt they have just shut the door on her, locking her in the back seat of the car. at least until she chilled out a little bit.

This is ridiculous. They shouldn't be allowed to use tazers on such a small girl that's handcuffed. I bet the report is totally skewed too to favor the cops. Bastards.

No, you don't leave an unrestrained subject in your car.

I would rather they just grab a 65 lb kid and not make excuses about how ferocious she is.

Sweet.

To me, if you remove the part about it being a 13 year old, then re-read the article, you'd say "Big whoop. Exactly what they should do."

13, IMHO, is old enough to know better and old enough to take responsibility for yourself.

What's wrong with it? She was acting like a brat and wouldn't listen. In my neck of the woods they tend to get a nerf ball to the side of the head, but we don't have no fancy tazers.

From what that report states, she fvking deserved it, and the officers acted appropriately...although they should head back to the gym if they can't handle a 65punder😀

i thought she had handcuffs on. even though she had slipped them in front of her, she was still restrained. how much damage can a 65 pound, 13 year old, handcuffed girl do locked in the back seat of a squad car?

Going hands-on raises the risk of injury for all parties substantially. If they put this girl in an armbar instead and snapped her arm then people would be bitching about that, too.

Seems fine to me. I just cant understand my people dont grasp one very, very simple concept.
Dont fvck with the police!! How damned hard is this to comprehend??

She's not going to be in the squad very long. There are a number of holds that even a weak person can do with handcuffs in front of them. I'm not going to describe them to you, but officers have been killed by allowing people to be cuffed in front.

Exactly. Cops LOVE to abuse their captures and outright LIE to cover their crimes simply because they can and get away with it. My best friend got put in jail for 5 months for doing nothing wrong on a highway. The 2 NJ cops basically busted up his car after they pulled him over and fined him for broken lights etc. When my friend got upset because he knew he didn't do anything, the cops put him in cuffs and started physically and verbally abusing him simply because his English wasn't exactly that great. There's a lot more to the story but it just goes to show that cops aren't always the good guys. Can't trust em for anything.

You'll find that one of the number one policies of police forces is to not take risks. This girl sounds like nothing but one big risk. It's a tazer, not a freaking shotgun. She'll live. No reason to get worked up over it.

You wouldn't be hearing about this if police taser usage wasn't a national "hot-topic" amongst noob journalist/reporters. Gotta be sure to add the amount of volts used! Sensationalist irrelevant data, as it's not the volts that leave permanent effects.

That being said, I wonder how long they went with trying to put up with her before using it. Can't point the finger at any one person. Girl was a tard for spazzing out and kicking her mom in the face, cops may have been a little trigger-happy before exhausting other methods of calming the situation. I can't honestly say, that if I were in the cops position, the thought of shocking the dumb girl wouldn't have crossed my mind. However that doesn't mean I'd go for it.

Do you ever accept the fact that not all police offers deserve to be held up on a pedestal?

I personally know quite a few cops... some of them are family members... some of them aren't. The ones that I know the best are 'good cops'... but I know several that aren't.

To make things even more interesting, even the good ones get on a lot of peoples nerves sometimes... one State Officer decided to wake up one of my neighbors, and have a half hour conversation with him about how he must keep his cattle fenced and off of state highways, when he informed the officer within the first few minutes that the cattle in question belonged to another neighbor (and he gave them the name and address)... nonetheless, the lady continued to ramble for another 20-25 minutes.

:disgust:

Take the blanket off your head and look at what's possible. I'm not trolling. That's a true story that has happened very recently.
