13 multiplier with unlocked CPU?

I've been slacking on getting the stuff to unlock my 1800+, been pretty busy here lately. My questions is; will I be able to get a 13 multiplier with my Athlon XP and my MSI K7N420 (nForce). I am running BIOS v2.3. These boards aren't overclocker friendly by any means. It'll do 140mhz fbs but it's not all that stable, and I know this CPU will run higher than that..🙁

Anyhow, I'm just curious on what I should expect, I've still got to run to the store and grab some super glue.

Thanks alot fellas!

I'm not sure on the details, but I think you have to change some other bridges on the chip if you want to go higher than 12 or 12.5

Go into the BIOS and see what multiplier settings it has. Mine had 8..11, 11.5, 12, 13, 14, 15. You won't be able to use these settings until the multiplier is unlocked, but they should at least be displayed.

My XP1700+ ran at 13x133 at 1.95V, so as long as your mobo supports it I'd imagine you can hit 13x with 1.9V or so.

Edit : I'm not so sure about this now, and I no longer have the 1700+ to check this on. Better to follow Fatman42's advice.

I have an Abit KR7A and it has the setting of 12.5/13x. How do I get the 13x? Do I have to unlock more bridges? Or is there someway to tell the computer that you want 13x?

If you want the higher multiplier ranges you're going to need to modify the L10 bridges. There's two positions - one for the lower ratios and one for the higher. I suggest you use this guide (and also refer to this page - not interactive as the first is, but lays out ALL the detail). Time to break out the silver paint if you're serious about doing this...
