.13 micron compatible w/.18 MB's? ::::

Was wondering if the .13 micron (amd MP's, when available) will have a good chance of being compatible with upcoming and current mobo's?

For ex.: tyan tiger board

Since they're both on socket A, I'd take it there might be a chance 🙂 ???

Not quite. It does not with out a Slocket, and even that I am doubtful. But, unless AMD does a trick to make Thoroughbred look bad (like Intella did with Tualy) it should be perfectly compatible with a simple BIOS update.

Hmmmm, too bad the .13 won't come out till' next year, which I can't wait, since I'm in the process of building.

Is the difference between .13 & .18 that much to warrant a hold on my purchases? or is there even much difference? besides heat & voltage usage?

I think compatibility would depend on the BIOS and the voltage
levels the mobo could supply to the CPU. (board has to be able
to supply low enough voltage)

is there any boards that have usually in the past been able to dip voltages low? or should i just get one and hope it'll work down the road?

It's all about voltages. I'm not sure that the boards will be able to handle the new voltages. Who knows for sure?
