Looking at photo purbeast posted, it seems like the street would be closed to vehicle traffic? I'm assuming they would've beefed up security in recent months at entry/exit points...How did the van get through??

For the right, you have to invent the "evil things said" or "horrible things done" by the normal, "enemy left," in order to form a basis from which to attack those things. There is no rationalizing with these people when the very foundation of their ire is a fantasy enemy with fantasy ideas that exists purely within their own mind.

I'd say hate crime for lone wolves, and terrorism if there is material support / contact with a group.
 
Yes... I was just considering "hate crimes" don't really apply to, say, the unabomber. So I suppose Terrorism is a step above Hate Crime the way Murder is above Assault. Under such consideration lone wolves definitely classify as terrorists. As such, Charlottesville was definitely an act of terror.

President Big Mouth has yet to acknowledge terror bombing on mosque in Minnesota earlier this month.

Very sad attack. I'm 99% sure it's ISIS... this is sort of their MO. Maximum civilian casualties and destruction in a tourist area. Say what you like about al-Qaeda, they at least generally pick military or infrastructure targets.... still horrible tho.

Yeah, they clearly see this as an opportunity to deflect some heat. Maybe the only surprising thing is how obvious and unsubtle they are about it. They're the kid in timeout in the corner of the classroom jumping up and down pointing out someone else breaking a rule.
