I don't have the game yet but it promises to be fun but the monthly pay doesn't. I've never paid for a game monthly before so this is a new experience. Is this a lot compared to like EverCrack or any other MMORPG?

I played the beta for planetside and it was fun. The 13.95 is a little high but Ultima just raised there to 13.95 so I think its becomming common.
Holy sh!t that is alot of money (especially if you play more than one). $45 for cable internet and around $13 for a each game (planetside, SWG, Everquest, etc.) Thanks, but no thanks.
'Tis a lot of money. I'm a bum at the moment and I need all the money I can get. If I play Planetside as much as I play Q3, then maybe it's worth it.
No kidding... i was paying for AC2, 2 EQ, and a SB account until recently. I've dumped all but one EQ account. Thankfully SOE is going to come out with a Sony pass that will include all the Sony games into a one monthly fee ($25 a month a think) that will include EQ, EQ2, Planetside... but WON'T be including SWG.

doesnt seem worth it. the beta was fun and all, but there's no real goal to the game. theres no storyline or anything like that, and the level cap keeps it from there being a point to playing it day after day. its basically just a mmo tribes 2, and that gets boring fast, imho.
unless they added it when the game went retail, no. basically the three factions fight for total control over each continent, but theres no real advantage to securing a continent and nothing is gained.
exactly. if anything, you should get a few months free. while it makes sense for the company (almost all of the monthly fee goes towards supporting the servers), it is not a good incentive for the customer, especially when there are so many games out there. if anything, it forces the game to be that much better, though.
Exactly, Planetside isn't one of those games which you rush home from school or work to play...there really isn't an incentive and you get bored fast.
Yep, i'm playing it atm as well... very sweet game. Servers are down more than they're up atm, but it's still fun when i can get on. They just added the smuggler profession yesterday too.
IMO, in some ways Tribes 2 is superior to PlanetSide, this coming from someone who has played both. Some of the things Sony aped from Tribes they didn't implement very well, such as the different classes and weapons loadouts. Tribes pull-down lists > PS click n' drag inventory.
