13.69@105.51 :| damn slow car.

Lifer
Only got 3 runs in tonight, and only drove decent on one of them. here's the full list of numbers:

Reaction: 1.094
60': 2.101
1/8th mile: 80.863
1/4 mile: 13.694
MPH: 105.519

Why is my ET so high???

I'm seriously confused here.....

don't worry a whole lot about your et, the key to drag racing is getting your car to run the consistent number

you
need
to
give
more
info

seriously people....
Your times could be high because you drive a VW Beetle for all we know....

I was thinking why is the ET so high with a 105mph trap speed and a 2.1 60'. I sohuld be down around 13.1 w/ those numbers.

It's a 5.0 mustang.

mustang, ehhh, thats your whole problem😉

Try messing with air pressure in the tires, it can make a huge difference. We drag race and check them constantly although slicks change fast with the weather conditions and I'm assuming your not running any slicks.

Edit: Whoot!! Whoot!! 4,000 posts, time to do homework now🙁

Looks about right; need to reduce your 60', time to get some drag radial or slicks. 🙂

Supercharged huh? That's about the right time for stock LT1 Z28's. 😉

Do you have any traction issues off the line? Is your clutch slipping at all?

The only mustangs I see running those numbers usually have problems getting off the line. Invest in a pair of drag radials for the track. Or just get some wider rims and tires.

My car will romp all over your average LT1 Camaro. It's still slower than an LS1 car, though.

Anyway - drag radials are my next automotive purchase.

I mean you are not spinning enough to cause your trap speed to be outrageous due to lack of traction. What kind of z rated tires are you using. If I may suggest get some nitto drag radials so you can cut better than a 2.1. A 2.1 isn't that bad for someone who doesn't race at a track a lot. I would think if you lowered your 60ft time to about 1.8-1.9 you could run some 13.2's. I had a trap speed of 103 but a 2.3 60 ft back when I was stock. What was your af ratio when you dyno tuned?

A/F is right around 13:1 until about 4750rpm, then it drops down to about 11:1 by 5400 rpm. The car's got 3.73 gears in the back, and is running on firestone firehawk SZ50 tires. they were at the full 35psi that I use them at on the street.

Drag radials are my next purchase.

Sounds like the gearing is right. Post on the corral in the windsor section. I am not too sure about that A/F on a 5.0 that is blown.

Is it me, or is that a piss-poor reaction time? I don't know if that counts in the ET though.

(I love driving, but I don't drag.)

I'm going with the traction theory; you're not able to get enough hook out of the hole (2.1 second 60'). The 105mph trap speed should be good for a low 13, high 12 (my '83 ran 12.8@109, w/o enough traction on M/T Sportsman Pros)

That reaction time is suck. 😉 But it doesn't count in the ET.

Hey, I run the same tires on the street. When I go to the track on street tires, I lower the pressure in the rear tires to around 22 psi, and jack up the front to 40.

That gear is fine for street tires. If you get more gear without softer tires, you are just going to spin your way down the track.

Auto or stick? Try to vary your launch rpm to find the optimum point between spin and bog.

High MPH with a high ET = Traction

Get some Mickey Thompson ET Streets with some Weld Drag Lights 🙂

3.73's should be perfect in that car, my buddy still runs 3.55's in his heavy SN95 11 second car. (though I am trying to get him to put 3.73's in there also 🙂 )

How much do ET streets cost, anyway? It might actually be worth it. I want to put my car in the 12s.

Oh - and import drag racing is a complete joke. Probably almost 100 imports there, Only saw three cars that ran faster than 15.0. All these people with thier "fast" ricers are running 16s and 17s....

1.094 reaction time???? You sure do sleep at the light. You either need to go on the last amber or get yourself a trans brake. I've never raced a street car before but when the electronics went out in my car one night, i had to foot brake it and still got a .504 reaction time. 😀

Depends when and where you go..true there are tons of ricers that run 16s and think they are fast...on the flip side..there are a few sleepers that run 14.3s STOCK <talking of a maxima here> and many more than run sub 14s...don't generalize...there are fast cars from every group of Automobiles..
