My camera is 10.1 mp and can't do anything near that.
That's gotta be more than 13 mp.

Can someone confirm that viewing software is a product of Microsoft? I remember Microsoft brought out a company that does that kind of viewing software. SeaDragon?

There is a difference between zooming in and taking a picture, and taking a photo with gigapixels and then zooming in on the photo.

They probably zoom in quite a bit and take a decent photo. You can see that they are blocks, not one HUGE photo you zoom in on.

Er... 13.4 gigapixels means 13.4 billion pixels.

An uncompressed, 24-bit BMP would be 40.2GB for 13.4 billion pixels.
