My lite-on burner keeps burning coasters when burning at 12x speed. Data cds are usually readable but audio cds usually have problems being read. When I burn at 8x the cds come out fine. The media is supports up to 32x. Any ideas?

What kind of media?

I've had problems of the exact same nature using some cheap generic CDRs. Data CDs were never a problem but many audio CDs would skip/stall in my car cd player, in particular. For some reason car audio decks seem to have more trouble reading than any other type of CD player.

I'd just stick with burning at low speeds, or maybe try different media.

Agree with Nebben. The rating of media is a guide - but different brands can perform differently. What brand are you using?

I had problems with my Liteon when burning a Windows boot CD once. Had to lower it to like 8x in order for it to burn without corruption. I use Memorex CD-Rs.
