12s - 60s loading times? (And even slower!)

This is sporadic.
Sometimes it is fast, other times, it is really, really slow.
This is both viewing, and doing a reply.

Trace route to server is fine, not over 60ms.

In fact, on this reply...

Seems there are different IPs, I assume that is the work of a load balancer?

Horrible lag here too. Clicking the reply brought this up quick but clicking on thread titles is more like a 30 second wait for me.

FF 47.0.1 if it matters.

Horrible for me right now. It took 40 seconds to get from OT to this thread. Gonna leave. Hopefully things will be better later.

edit: 40 seconds to post the reply. Ugh.

These Anandtech forums have always been dog slow for me.

They're just much worse today than usual. I'm seeing up to 30 second load times. Usually the load times are only 5-7 seconds. Purch must have their best techs working on the site again today.

Don't remember it ever being this slow. I for a second thought it was my internet connection, but this is the only site taking a long time to load a page.

At first I thought my interwebs were doing something wonky, or somebody plugged up the tubes, but nope, everything else is good.

Last reply I typed took almost a minute before the page actually loaded it.

Huh, since I came back, it is even slower.
Hitting 38.34s (onload: 38.36s), 44.06s (onload: 44.11s), 52.81s (onload: 53.74s) times on either going to a new post, or trying a reply.

DDos attack? Someone downloading the database again?
Malware being fed to AT's server?
Ryan wanted to see how a 486DX can handle the forum software?

(this took 50.27s (onload: 51.04s) to load!)

Forums are getting slower and slower.
Thank you.

Time to reactivate oldsbasement.com

But seriously I noticed the slow down on my mobile first, more clicks seemed to equal slower response. Now my PC with chrome goes to page unavailable frequently. The banner ad on my mobile is super long text now, could the ad have something to do with it?

Forums still fast for me (~500ms to 1.2s loading forum pages in browser). Running uBlock Origin on Waterfox/Firefox on both desktop and mobile. Tracert giving a lot of timed out hops (to Amazon AWS/EC2 servers on the east coast, mostly Northern Virginia), though. Their health dashboard doesn't show any issues currently, but apparently the last region that did report issues was their NOVA data center(s), on the 19th (coincidentally, also the same date PoodleCorp DDoSed Pokemon Go servers). Possibly unrelated? Although there does appear to be downtime reports for Pokemon Go servers around same time yesterday, and resolving in past hour. Considering Amazon hosts a lot of servers in Virginia, a massive attack on Amazon's servers/load balancers probably could lead to collateral damage affecting AT servers, as well.

I know nothing about security and networking, though, that's just my uneducated guess. :p

We cleared up a bunch of locked queries in the DB that was causing this, so the worst of it should be resolved. Let us know if this happens again!

I was going to start a thread on this. EVERY page load is 20-60 seconds. And as a mod its almost impossible for me to do my job in this environment. Firefox says "not responding" EVERY time I load a page.

And with a 3930k hex core at 4 ghz, and an SSD and 32 gig of ram, there is NO reason for this. Same browser, other sites are fine.

And to be clear, this is ALL day EVERY day, since I retired 6 months ago.

AND I have 30 meg upload and download speed on fiber optic, all the way to the house !

Major Stalling, super long loading times. All other sites work fine for me. So it's not my PC.
