This is a great deal!

Any one know what kind of memory Dell uses on their Inspiron 8000 notebook machines? Because currently Dell also has a 20% off all accessories, so, a 128 Meg SODIMM was originally $50 and now $40.

I use Kingston ValueRam for my main desktop machine which runs GREAT.

Just needed some opinion on the Dell SODIMM vs. Kingston's SODIMM.

Thanks.

BTW this price is for THIS WEEK not next week. Jump4aDeal's deal is $5 cheaper if you wait until Sunday's 6/17 ad. If I had to choose I'd pay an extra $5 for Kingston ValueRAM but that's just me.

According to Dell's tech specs the Inspiron 8000 has 2 SoDIMM sockets, with DIMM capacities of 32, 64, 128, or 256MB and runs at 100MHz frequency @ 16ns.

Crucial's price is $48.94 but I didn't enter through the www.crucial.com/webpromo/ URL.

Personally I would rather pick up 128MB SoDIMM from Best Buy B&M because it's quicker and cheaper.

I'm not sure if the ad you have shown is selling SoDimm, b/c it says SDRAM and the reason why I question this is b/c I saw in another thread "HP athlon 4 laptop" there's another flyer there and the PNY Notebook SDRAM is $30 for 128mb while the Notebook SoDIMM 256mb is $160...why would there be such a large increase from 128->256?

I've wondered that myself also, 256MB seems to be the sweet spot for W2K but it's hard to stomach the price. 128MB for $34.99 is A LOT easier to accept.

RossMAN:

Acutally, what I meant was the quality of Dell's SODIMMS.

But thanks anyway!

Actually, now that I think about it, as long as it works, and from a well-known brand, there should be little or no differences between the SODIMMS right?

I mean, it's not like we're going to OC this little sucker...

DocYahoo - Sorry I misread your post, I'm not sure who manufacturers Dell's RAM but it might be Micron (Crucial.com) which if this is true it's one of THE BEST RAM you can buy. I would compare the model numbers with Crucial.com's or search Google.com

If it's any consolation, I believe PNY and Kingston ValueRAM both offer lifetime guarantees on their RAM. I don't think SoDIMM RAM's quality is as important as desktop RAM since chances are you won't be overclocking.
