We all know that 128MB DDR memory will spanl 128MB SDR SDRAM, but for about the same price, one could purchase about 384MB of SDR PC133 SDRAM. Lets say both system were Athlons (Lets say Athlon w/ 266MHz FSB). In overall system performace, which would be faster ? How about games, how about with multitasking (lots of programs running) ?

Well, what do you think ?

multitasking and games under win 2k, definitely the SDR. because it will all fit in the SDR ram. it'll have to go to the hard drive with only 128

More beats faster especially when the performance advantage is so small and the price diff. so large(for now)

Its like comparing a dragster to an indy car. Do you want rapid impulse or cruising speed? The 128mb DDR Ram will do a small amount of work faster while the 384mb SDRam will do big jobs faster.

Give it a month... prices on DDR will drop quick. Crucial is already selling PC1600 for the same price as PC133.... so give it a bit more time for demand and supply to go up and well see lower prices.

I agree with demenion. Given the same amount of memory, the DDR system can only perform 20% faster AT MOST. If you really need a DDR, buy the PC1600 version over at crucial.com Their price is relatively low and you also get free 2nd day shipping. You have to pay for the tax tough.

I'm not an Athlon man anymore so I probably won't be buying any DDR (its stupid for P3 on 133FSB). But I was curious which would be better...

Thanks !
