128k vs 256k cache of Sempron Skt 754

Hi, I tried to find out if the extra 128k cache of a Sempron skt 754 would give any difference but most articles I found stated that with overclocking, the extra cache won't yield much difference and the performance edge is insignificant. Is that true? Should I not bother to get the extra cache and save some $? Thanks for your comment!

Assuming both overclock to the same speed, the one with 256KB cache will perform about 200 mhz better.
However, I think the 256KB ones are 130nm while the 128KB is 90nm, which would make it probably overclock better.

cache in games makes a bigger difference and 128 to 256 is a nice big jump almost more so then 256 was to 512 and 512 to 1mb.....I stil dont think it probably earns the PR rating as most of the AMD pr ratings are borked IMO...

I went ahead and bought the 2800+ with 256k cache because i felt like, whatever, its only 10 bucks more and overclocks well.
If your buget is that tight i would get the 128k.

THe extra 128k is NOT a huge benefit... Nowhere near an "Extra 200mhz" maybe 50..... MAYBE..... I've extensively tested Sempron 754s... and found the 2600+ to be the very best bang for the buck....

Thanks for all the help! Cuz I am deciding whether I should get a 2600+, 2800+ or the 3000+. If the extra cache won't matter much then I will choose between 2600+ and 3000+. Since the price difference between the two isn't much, then I wonder if it's worth to get the 3000+ for the bigger multiplier. What do you guys think?

from what I've seen, it seems that the 256k version overclocks better
i wouldn't call it a scientific analysis though

If you want cool & quiet get the 3000+ because the 2600+ and 2800+ dont support cool & quiet.

Just an other thing for you to think about.

Not true. All the Palermo-core Semprons are 90nm CPUs. This includes the Palermo 2800+ and 3100+, both of which have 256k l2 cache. Keep in mind that the older 3100+ is a 130nm chip(and is not a Palermo).
