128 Samsung 840 Pro = $120

Actually, it did have AC3, but it looks like they might have sold out and removed it from the ad. I saw it earlier.

Not a great price. I miss the $70 Samsung 830 128GB drives.

Larry, this is a great price for an 840 Pro

Nothing even close to 120.00 for this

This is the Pro model, which is faster, so it's actually a pretty good price. I would think that the non-pro versions should probably reach $80 on sale sometime soon.

THIS ^^^

exactly, why are you guys thread crapping? :hmm::hmm:

840 Pro is best performing SSD around right now in this price range.

Also, for 100 dollars, name one drive that will perform like the 840 pro.

in for one.

ALSO--- AMAZON doesn't mention it but it does indeed include AC3!

I suppose I could be wrong, but I thought that the 830 drives were basically maxing out the SATA6G interface, weren't they? I guess I don't see how 840 Pro drives could be worth their price premium over them.

I guess I see buying an 840 Pro like I see people buying Monster-branded HDMI cables. Sure, they might be a little better, but better enough to warrant paying double the price of alternative products?

Edit: To put it another way, imagine that this was $100 off the price of a $1000 "Extreme Edition" Intel CPU. Sure, it might be a great deal for someone specifically in the market for an Extreme Edition CPU, but for most folks, the value just isn't there, unless the price somehow magically came down to earth, in line with competitive alternatives.

For example, you can regularly get the Intel 330 180GB drive for $100. 180GB is worth more to me than a slightly faster 120GB drive. ("Slightly faster" == faster in benchmarks, but not percievable in actual use. Most SATA6G SSDs perform similarly in actual usage.)

OK, I didn't see you actually came back with a retort to my warning and my mod edit.

Now hear me. Stay out of this thread.

If you can find an 830 for under $120 not to mention a $50 game for free. I've been waiting for over a month and havent found it. I definately do see your point though and its valid for the most part but in this case we are talking about next gen (non-Sandforce) SSD's which would be 830 or 840 or possibly some others, also of which I have not seen on sale for the last month.

To the people that are threadcrapping about this drive and comparing it to cheaper alternatives:

DON'T

The thread is for the discussion of the Samsung 840 Pro. This is a hot deal. It is cheaper by 30.00 to any other site that I looked for.

It's doesn't matter if you don't think it's a hot deal. If you don't think it is, stay out of this thread.

From the rules here:

What about COURTESY?

No thread crapping. If the subject matter of a deal does not interest you, do not post negative comments about it, or about other members, in the thread.
