I have a 128 ram computer, and I was wondering what settings I could set to make it faster.
I am only using it for msn, aim and internet surfing. I am running window xp.

Please what settings should I do to make it faster.

No settings are going to change the performance significantly. You need more RAM, XP is gonna run like a slug with 128MB RAM. It's cheap, just buy some, 1GB would make it really snappy compared to what you have now.

good advice Cutthroat, but if he only has 128 megs I wonder how old the computer is. It might be EDO old, if that's the case he's gonna have a tough time finding memory at a decent price. I'd also guess the MB has probably 2 memory slots only, which mean he might have 2 64 chips. I'm sure he could find EDO dirt cheap on Ebay, but I'll second there's nothing you can do with 128 megs + XP, it's gonna swap like a mo'fo for even the most basic stuff. Tell us more specs, like CPU type if you know it. But regardless, more memory is going to be your only speed option. even 256 would be a big improvement.

Disabling system services could help. At any given point I run about 26 services on 256MB of ram. When i use a machine with 512 or more I don't notice any difference personally in generally computing (Word processing, internet browsing, etc.)

Forget about XP with less than 256MB.

As always, I recommend Xubuntu for those memory challenged computers.

It's a modern, full-featured operating system with all that you need: Web browsing, IM, office apps and tight security, but with a very tiny memory footprint (less than 40MB upon boot, without hitting swap).

Disable any service you don't need, like Automatic Updates, Themes, Security Center, Secondary Login, Wireless Zero Configuration, Indexing Service, Help and Support, Fast User Switching, etc. I was able to get XP running smoothly on a P2 266MHz laptop with 128mb of ram by disabling every non-essential service. If you are only going to use it for word processing and e-mail there are a lot of services that you don't need.
