1 is there any performance gain in 256MB vga than a 128MB , if both are 128 bit and same gpu?

2 for a something like Ge6600nu is it worth the money(256 than 128)?

3 Is Ati X700 better than Ge6600LE?

At the price range your looking at, 256 is really a waste. you are much better off buying a faster GPU with 128MB then a slower one at 256MB.

1. No, if your sticking with a memory bus of 128-bit, it won't gain you anything, except less money in your wallet (if that's your aim)...

lets you store more textures
2. No, you won't be able to play at the high resolutions or with heavy image settings where 256MB may have an effect...

3. Yes, it sure is...

If you'd be willing to spend $ 119 (after Mail-In Rebate), I can recommend you a GigaByte 6600GT, given that your mobo supports PCI-e...

Otherwise, $ 119 (after Mail-In Rebate) for an AGP eVGA 6600GT...

At these prices, those are the best value for money nowadays, and will provide you with a lot more gaming power than regular X700's or 6600LE's...

Anything sub vanilla 6800 doesn't really need 256, because you shouldn't be turning texures up all the way anyway.

The only thing it might be useful for is when Vista comes out if you keep it that long the more video memory the better for GUI acceleration.
