120x38mm fans for TRUE?

I am getting a Thermalright Ultra for my overclocking plan, I need to know what 120mm fans to put on it for best performance/noise ratio. Any ideas? Thank you very much.
 
the best performance/noise would probably be a silent 120mm, rather than a louder one pushing alot more air
 
Cool, I might get some Panaflo fans for it. Anyone know if you really need to lap an E8600 to get the best contact with the heatsink?

the best fans are these:

they offer the highest static in almost every fan you can find.

Static is important when looking at fans for sinks.

NOT CFM.

Only downside is they cost 25 dollars EACH.
 
If your MoBo has a 4 pin PWM header I would get a PWM (multi speed) fan..

Get a slow speed fan and if you need more cooling then get the faster fan..
When I first started I bought the mid speed fans and wish I had bought the slow speed quit fans..

If you dont have a PWM mobo get a two speed fan if a fan with a speed control..
The more expensive the fan the better its made, cheap price you get a cheap noise fan..

I like the silverstone fm 122-b. It is 120mm x 32mm which is bigger than your standard 25mm width, but not quite 38mm. They also come with a fan speed controller which is a huge plus.

Those sanyo denkis are no joke(you can get them in 225cfm flavors? holy crap!)

But, I don't know if they are the best performance/price ratio. 100ish CFM on the ones aigo linked, but close to 40db? I'd think a 20db fan would move about 1/2 as much air, while being 100x quieter (by definition at least). The temp difference between two such fans on a normal tower cooler will be minimal. Hell, I used to turn the 80cfm fan on my xigmatek (when I only used one, I have two now) OFF and only gained 3-4c. only 1c changing from 40 to 80

What is this static business? I don't think I've seen that before

Important for heatsinks and radiators, somewhat important for intake, not very important for exhaust (as long as the CFM is adequate).

Sorry to raise the issue again, but is it only worth getting a TRUE if I have lapped my cpu? To be honest I am terrified of lapping a cpu that I can't afford to replace. Thanks.
 
Apparently the TRUEs have horrible surface finish from the factory, so yeah lapping is recommended. But, why not save yourself some money and headache by getting a Xigmatek or sunbeam CCF?

they make 2 other versions of that Kaze fan as well if a controller is not going to be used. They have a low speed and med speed version
 
So an Ultra Kaze would probably also be a good choice for a case intake fan that has restricted airflow? Such as the cosmos. Would it be effective without too much noise? If not then what would be a good intake fan? Maybe the S-Flex?

*the intake is restriced by dust filters
