120hz 46" Samsung LCD TV Frys for $1299, Hot?

BM Ad today.

Amazon has it (the 630) for the same price with free white glove delivery and no sales tax for most states. Saves about $130 for CA buyers, since I believe they don't charge the $25 recycling fee either. This set should also qualify for the free $200 NFLShop.com GC via mail-in rebate regardless of where you buy it, as long as it's over $1000.

how does the 630 differ from the 650 ?

matte vs. glossy screen. I think the 630 may have 1 fewer HDMI slot as well lower contrast ratio. Sometime the 630 is more expensive but mostly it's the the 650 with the higher price tag. (they are usually within $100 of each other)

630 and 650 46" are usually on sale for about $1499 (before tax) at most b&ms but you don't have to deal with PITA returns with issues like dead pixels and such.

I exchanged a 52" LCD at Fry's because of scuffs on the screen and scratches to the bezel and that was a PITA. I was accused of causing the damage and the guy told me I waited too long into my 30 day return window 😕. I swore I would never buy another big ticket item from Fry's but I left the country so I don't have to worry about that now 🙂

In contrast I have heard of a lot of people who had great success exchanging sets with Amazon. White glove delivery of the exchange set and they pick up the old one. Sure beats loading it yourself.

OOS now. I'm gonna get a new TV, and I'm thinking either this one, or the PA50650 for $1500 at best buy. I'll have about $500 to put on it right away, plus a $10% off coupon. 3 years no intrest on HDTV's.

$1,199.99 Westinghouse 52" 1080p HDTV LCD... but it is a westinghouse which really isn't as good samsung so I don't know trade off there. Oh this is at costco

I was in Costco tonight and saw what looked like a great deal, Vizio 55" LCD 120 MHz 5 HDMI for $1549, $250 off sale price (usually $1799).

That is a good deal. I'm waiting a few months to buy my living room TV, though, as this year's models will offer some pretty significant technological advances. For example, Vizio is releasing the VF551XVT for $2k MSRP in June - 55" LCD, 240 Hz, LED backlit. I'd expect it to sell around $1799 at Costco, like the VF550XVT now.

Also expect more robust networking technologies to emerge, like Vizio's "Connected HDTV" -- streaming movies from Netflix and other services!
