TechTV bursts the USB 2.0 bubble

<<Don't be confused by the rated speeds you see emblazoned across USB 2.0 and FireWire product boxes. Despite USB 2.0's 80 Kbps speed advantage over FireWire, our testing showed that the additional overhead of USB 2.0 made it slower than FireWire. For high-bandwidth devices such as external hard drives, the difference was as high as 70 percent.>>

Benchmarks
<<While USB 2.0 may not be the ultimate hard drive interface, its ability to read at a rate of 6MB per second matches the maximum write speed of a 40x CD recorder. Focusing on the MP3 transfer rates (Test 2), FireWire offers a significant advantage over USB 2.0, besting it by nearly 48 percent in write speeds and over 70 percent in read speeds.>>

I have the 40 gig version and like it very much. I get transfer speeds 11x -12x faster with the USB 2 than running it at 1.1

I got about 10meg/ secs transfer with my set up
