can anyone confirm it for L.A. area? i went to the pasadena store and i told them scan and price check but it was still 179.99. dammit, i need one of these HD, if anyone can comfirm PM me and tell me wen it ends. thanks
 
Tried to get this in Lexington KY. BB was out of stock. CompUSA wouldn't PM to $99 no rebates because BB was out of stock. Office Depot didn't have it in stock. OfficeMax didn't have it in stock. Staples would only PM the $20 instant rebate. I didn't try Circuit City. Are there any other ideas for getting this at $99?

 
If you buy online and choose instore pickup. When they send your confirmation email the price is automatically adjusted to the instore price of $99.00
I just purchased one. Also the website sometimes will show your local stores instock for pickup when the actual store will say they are OOS.
 
OOS in Westminster Mall BB. Asked the guy at the counter, he bought the last one :|. There was two to start with.

BTW, this is a Market Reaction to CompUSA price after rebates and the $99.99 price is good only until Nov 27th midnight. I'll have to go back and use my 10% Off coupon from my Dec2002 PCWorld issue (page 6) for a price adjustment. 😱

Price is $179 in silverdale WA, this bites. They wouldn't budge on the price even after I told them other stores were at $99.
 
Hmm, I'm thinking pricematch CompUSSR to BeastBy. (like the old rt314 pricmatch deal) would get it for 99.99 +tax - 30 -30 = 40 bux for a 120 gigger

MAN this is HOT! I only wish I had seen it a few hours before I did. I just got back from hours and hours of driving around town trying to locate these and they're OOS everywhere (and they were marked on the shelves at $99). I ended up driving 45 min out of town to the small-town-Best Buy, they had 4 of them but they were all $179! I took 2 to customer service where they got onto their little computer system, confimed that the Columbus OH location was selling them for $99 and they pricematched it for me. SWEET! $211 out the door

 
For Orange County people: Westminster, Costa Mesa, Cerritos....all outta stock. Tried to ask for raincheck and the manager hesitated and then said yes....got excited for a bit...then 2 minutes later he looked at the screen and said he couldn't do it anymore....bleh.
 
Here is what I did:

Went to Bellevue, WA BB, out of stock. Sales wouldn't give raincheck. But I went to the PC web terminal to order it online. Found the item L01J120, price is listed at $179.99, clicked the BUY button, and then it showed the price as $99. Bought it there with free shipping to my home address. Remember you have to use the in-store PC web terminal to order it to get the $99 price.

Hope this helps for folks who run in to a BB that is OOS.
 
Cowboy, when you ordered at the terminal did it show the corrected price after you clicked buy or at the end of checkout? Might have to make another trip down there. Wasn't a fun day, no hard drives and no Fuji CDRs in stock either.
 
Sure enough....I went to BestBuy at 119&I35 in Olathe, got one and it rang up as $99.99 + tax. Took it to the car, and ran back in to get the rest of them. Cleaned out the shelf...short story...6 new drives for helluva price. SCHWEEETTTT!!!!!!

They are labeled as 2mg. Going to plug one in and see what they really. Either way, still a great price.
 
When I went BB store, it was out of stock.
It was kind of weird, since the Maxtor 80G was tagged for 139.99 and right beside the 120G was 99.99.
There are also a lot of 60G drives, which are coming 60.00 after MIR.
Guess 60G for 60.00 is no more a good deal.😛
I ordered one on line 179.99+Tax for store pickup.
If they don't adjust the price, I'll return it on the store.
 
Hey, they sent a mail, and the price is adjusted for 99.99.
I've got to wait for pickup confirmation mail, now.😀
 
For those in Los Angeles
I bought on-line at the regular price and finally found a store that I could pick it up (West LA). If you cannot pick it up at a store it is greyed out. I bought some. It still showed regular price. When I received the confirmation in my email it dropped to $99.00
 
****UPDATE****
Just got back from Best Buy, they had 3 just sitting on the shelf and they had a $99 price tag on them. The box says it is the 2MB buffer model but when you go to the website and look up the model on the actual drive itself ... it is the 8MB cache model!

Model # on the drive is 6Y120P0, the 6Y120L0 is the 2MB model
