Am I the only idiot interested in a nice gold plated ultra high speed HDMI cable?
Is it completely idiotic to spend $120 a gold plated ultra high speed HDMI cable?
I can easily afford it so that's not the issue.
Just feel a little stupid spending that much on one but I want it lol.

my understanding is that, for most purposes, HDMI cables either work or don't work, and there's no real value in a $120 cable that a $5 cable wouldn't do just as well.

You're just a forward thinker. For the low, low, price of $100, I promise to email you daily telling you how smart, creative and, good looking you are. That's not all! If you send me your credit card info in the next ten minutes, I'll include birthday, anniversary and, special event greetings at no extra charge.

I wouldn't buy that piece of crap. For one it isn't using gold wiring . Where are the diamonds that should be encrusted along the length of the cable ? All of this is needed to ensure that the signal is properly pampered before arriving at its destination.

If you want a fast cable just buy a shorter one 😛

The gold is just there to prevent oxidation, it's not going to increase the speeds at all.

Yes you are, there will be no difference in picture or sound than any other properly working HDMI cable that you can get for 5 bucks.

I'm using old crappy stuff for my internet connection, going through old crappy phone lines, and I can get from CA to NY in about 40ms.

digital signal is digital

THIS.

I work in telecom and talk to saps all the time who were suckered-in to buying over-priced cables. They're delusional and want to justify the purchase, so they actually believe it improves the picture quality.

Ugh.
