Okay, time for a quick memory showdown, rebates are running out fast!

All kits are 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) and priced withen $15 of each other:

"much cheaper"? No, its only ~$7 cheaper. They both have the $50 rebate.

ALso if you want a cheap Gskill 5-5-5-15 kit(which will most likely do 4-4-4-15 timings and arnt really ocing much, newegg keeps dropping prices like every day on this stuff.

That patriot stuff for $125AR seems like a decent deal. I believe that stuff has a good chance of being micron d9. Although I dont know how we could confirm that, I dont think too many people use patriot : /


If anyone wants really high speed Micron D9 chips, I think the best deal right now is THIS These are actually cheaper than G.skill hz's right now.

They have the corsair 6400C4 (EPP) kit 4-4-4-12 for $129AR free shipping as well. Those have a possibility of being micron d9's. However, they have so many versions, its doubtful.

Corsair rebates ARE slow, but I have gotten one of three I had outstanding. Took about 3 months on turn around.

Guess that means I'll see the 620HX rebate (ZZF) I just sent in around August.

The Micron D9 IC's represent some of the fastest/most overclockable/most reliable DDR2 RAM on the market today. Typically they love higher voltages too, essential for OC'ing. But, other factors come in to play with memory modules as well, ex. PCB quality, trace quality, etc. So, not all D9-based memory modules are equal. To add more confusion, as the RAM market has crashed, module OEM's are naturally moving to lower quality IC's to cut their losses, so many brands/models which once used D9's no longer do so, or they may use lower-binned D9's, such as may be happening with the Buffalo Firestix.

If you want D9's for sure, just buy some Crucial Ballistix modules. Very high end OCZ modules, such as their PC-8500 SLI modules, also still use D9's for certain. These represent the most affordable arena, brands such as Cell Shock and Team Group also use D9's in their high end, high priced modules.
