12 year old starts medical school

more power to him, though i cant imagine what kind of outside life he has....though the vast amount of $$ he will get will make up for that right? 😛

Good thing they structured it to where he's 18 before he sees patients. We don't want another Doogie. 😉

Son of a Korean mother and a Japanese father, Sho enrolled in college at the tender age of nine and will graduate summa cum laude (with top honours) from Loyola later this month with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry.

Ah, so that's the critical mix. Damn my caucasian father! 😀

Wow. I mean... jesus. Who cares what he wants. By the time he realizes what he wants, he'll already be able to fall back on his medical carear. Then he'll figure out cold Fusion at the age of 21. That's incredible.

"Sho is slated to start at the university next month, with a view to pursuing his ambitions to be a cancer researcher. "

Cancer research? A waste? I don't think so.

Sorry. I didn't read the article because I was too busy failing in asking a girl out.

it's not so much of a college experience to destory but rather this kid is supposed to be enjoying his childhood instead of studying IMO. maybe that's what he wants and he's capable of it. what is he going to do, hang out with people at least 6 years older than him? I can't imagine ever putting my kid in this situation where he's not gonna be able to make a lot of friends. There should be a balance between academic success and a life.

Doogie Howser, M.D....

I can only hope he grows up normally. Brilliant, but if he looks back on his life and regrets it might not be worth it. All in all, I'm pretty glad I was a kid when I was a kid.
