maybe she holds the key to eternal youth! she should be in a laboratory, subject to every genetic test under the sun. we need to know why this is happening, so we can halt the aging process for all of us (all of us in the affluent first world, that is :)

does she even have a "mind" as we know it?

altho, she does look very contemplative in this picture. What is she contemplating, that is the question.

Ironic that those given the gift of immortality are doomed to such a short life.

she might live forever. who knows.

She *has* been close to death four times and bounded back surprising the doctors every time.

She's contemplating "GFDammit, channel 11 needs some un-ugly cameramen."

She *IS* a 12 year old, after all. Stupid wh0res. (I live with a 12 year old, they aren't what they used to be)

They found the gene for aging quite long ago (2002ish?) this is probably a genetic defect, well... multiple genetic defects, causing the number of problems she has.

I thought this was quite touching:

"Pakula points out that the girl has a strong sense of self and of sibling rivalry. Brooke has no language skills, but she does have enough motor skills to pull herself up in her crib or scoot across the kitchen floor."

and

Pakula said Brooke has thrived because of the support of her parents and three sisters. "When one sees how much she has accomplished, it's a wonderful reminder that even for someone who's limited, it's a wonderful world out there," Pakula said.
