The Justice Department announced indictments against 12 Russian nationals as part of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election, accusing them of engaging in a "sustained effort" to hack Democrats' emails and computer networks.

They are charged with hacking the computer networks of members of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. They allegedly coordinated to release damaging information to sway the election under the names “DCLeaks” and “Guccifer 2.0.” However, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told reporters that it’s unclear if their efforts changed the outcome of the election.

None of those Russians will see the inside of an American courtroom, but an important foundation was just laid that will undergird the forthcoming indictments of Americans (Stone, Junior, Kushner...) for aiding and abetting these crimes.

Apparently the Russians launched a leaks website a day before the Trump Tower meeting with Don Jr.

That's awkward.

http://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/396947-mueller-russian-officers-launched-leaks-website-in-june-2016

Mueller alleges that the Russian officers initially registered the domain for DCLeaks.com in April 2016, and launched the site “[o]n or about June 8, 2016.”

“Starting in or around June 2016 and continuing through the 2016 U.S. presidential election, the Conspirators used DCLeaks to release emails stolen from individuals affiliated with the Clinton Campaign,” the indictment reads.

The complaint also alleges that officers used the site to release documents stolen in the past, including those from people affiliated with the Republican Party.

The allegations were included in Mueller's indictment of 12 Russian military officers for the 2016 hacking of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Mueller's investigation into Russian efforts to meddle in the election have focused on a number of other events in the spring and summer of 2016.

One of those events, held June 9, 2016, was the infamous Trump Tower meeting between a Russian lawyer and several top Trump campaign officials.

And Russian hackers attempted to penetrate Clinton's email account four hours after Trump publicly commanded them to on national television.
Yes but apparently they didn't do it thinking they would be caught so did they do it under direction from Trump or to add more leverage to whatever they already had to be able to blackmail him if the truth got out? It couldn't be much clearer that Trump works for the Russians to help destroy the West.

Unfortunately, a solid percentage of the population will not care. The most recent polling on the Mueller investigation was not good.

Consider the hearing with Strzok yesterday. Republicans dismissed reality.

Fortunately Mueller doesn't have to win the fight in the court of public opinion... Thank goodness. Lot's of stupid people out there still...

Actually he does. And Giuliani knows this. That's why all of this has been so absurd, with Rudy doing the news circuit and spreading propaganda. Because ultimately, when it comes to Trump, this will be as Rudy said "Impeach or not impeach." And that is decided by congress through popular opinion and vote.

This being the POTUS takes it outside the justice system. He must first be removed from office before he can be convicted. And that removal requires broad popular support and congressional action.

Unfortunately, the GOP and it's base does not have the integrity or humility it had in Nixon's day. They now have in place a targeted propaganda machine and the help of a foreign psyops program and to them, the ends justify the means in their nationalist coup.

November isn't too far away. The court will speak then but again only those who bother to vote... It's like a jury of 12 of your peers where only 8.7 jurors show up to vote...

I doubt Mueller wraps this up before then.

One can only speculate, as we examine poll after poll of likely voters. But at least a few of recent news events including the topic of this thread should only increase the Blue wave, tilt fence-sitters, and peel off some skeptical Trumpies if only a few.

The problematic uncertainty, with the world watching the elections in 50 states, is how the Russians could continue their campaign undetected to give Trump some counter-weight for Senate and Congressional seats. But the mere number of different elections, as targets for Russian influence, would complicate a Russian psy-war strategy and its effectiveness. And the number of different seats and elections would increase a chance that someone at the state level could detect the Russian interference.

That being said, if I don't sound worried -- I am. Whether you agree that a steady stream of gross Lies is either a form of violence or that it inspires violence, one can add any revelations later that Russia again tipped these elections toward Trump.

And you're free to speculate on the movie title "There Will Be Blood."

Remember how when Giuliani was trying to run for pres, c. 2008, and all of the NYFD were following him around the country, to protest and ridicule him, to speak the truth about his horrible incompetence as a mayor, his deplorable advertising of 9/11 as his "hero moment," when the actual, nationally recognized heroes of 9/11--the NYFD--suffered serious casualties as a result of Rudy's previous 6 years of fighting them over upgrading response equipment, budgeting, and essentially stripping them down to a skeleton crew.

Remember that? How the people that actually knew, and lived and worked under this sociopath, spent their year speaking truth to the reprehensible filth that is this man?

Now think about Trump and the man he is, and the people he surrounds himself with. They are all the worst of the worst kind of scum in this world. Hell, also think about the average working-class GOP voter and their opinion of Trump in 2008. LMFAO! elitist NY billionaire, non-christian heathen asshole. That's what every single one of them thought about him.

Suddenly, he is now their hero. And this scum he brings with him...honest brokers in a world of madness. In the world of the easily-corruptible GOP brain, it really does pay to not be black.

Nevermind the 8 straight years of record economic growth in jobs and GDP, largely avoiding a catastrophic world-wide economic crisis. Nevermind expansive, essential healthcare sending us down the right and obvious path towards responsible costs and outcomes. Nevermind actual, real jobs for the middle and working classes, in contrast to promising to pay off millionaires and billionaires through an endless, unpayable loan on the middle and working classes. Nevermind the direct and clear calls for unity and bipartisanship, in contrast to the direct and clear calls for violence and abject hatred of your argumentative neighbor. Nevermind the 80 and more years continued shunning of Nazis and fascists, in contrast to the open and proud support of these vile, murderous, subhuman cockroaches. Nevermind any of that. Black is just fucking wrong, and we'll vote for a proven, shameless monster just to piss off blacky and the libs!

They can concentrate their efforts on select Senate seats, for example. Or highly contested HOR seats, as well. GOP efforts will show them where best to exert their own, obviously.

Why not just let Putin move into the Whitehouse?
Trump would have a shower buddy, an ear to confess to, Melania could finally take long trips to foreign lands, Putin could replace Sarah Sanders as spokesman (on the plus side), Putin could teach Donald how to "get rid" of his enemies/family/friends/media/annoyances, and Soviet spies wouldn't need to hack. The spies would have all the access they need right there in the oval office top desk drawer .
And maybe Putin could start Donald on a good weight loss diet once and for all.
Just imagine all of that taxpayer money we could save.
No more long distance phone charges. No more expensive jetting off to the Kremlin. No more secret meetings in the back room of some expensive Kremlin restaurant.
And after all.... we do have same sex marriage nation wide.
These two lovers might as well take advantage of it.
And wouldn't they look cute as a button playing together.

As with the indictments and convictions of those many Trump associates, this indictment will skate right through the minds of Trump's supporters as they have already been thoroughly indoctrinated into the "Fake News" scheme that's been coming out of the Trump/FOX/GOP Spin Machine.

I'd hazard a guess and say that even if Trump gets impeached and found complicit with this "Fake Russia thing" this "Witch Hunt" as he incessantly hammers into the minds of a very willing base, millions upon millions of his followers will still believe every single lie and false accusation Trump comes up with. Proof? Refer to Trump's habitual lying and the reaction of his base to those lies at every single reinforcement indoctrination session (more commonly known as a Trump Rally) he stages at every opportunity.

These folks have proven beyond doubt that they are impervious to any facts and circumstances that point to Trump's personality disorders and his obvious use of double speak and double downs to dodge those factual criticisms and accusations leveled at his erratic evasive behavior.

This macabre relationship between Trump and his supporters is fascinating to think about, but in every real sense, a toxic and debilitating situation as far as the health of the nation is concerned.

If only Trump's supporters would realize that they are ultimately playing themselves directly into Putin's grip through this mysterious yet very real control he has over Trump.

But then it's all a plot to destroy Trump that Hillary Clinton is masterminding and it must all be true because she's not being investigated yet Trump is, right?

No he’s representing his client.
Admittedly in a completely idiotic way but that’s what he’s doing

Yep, and he has openly admitted he is attempting to sway public opinion, because ultimately that is where this case will be tried, at the polls and in congress. Not any court. Trump must first be impeached before he can be charged.

Rudy's law degree is cover for his role as a PR flack.
