Compgeeks has Promise UDMA66 controller card for $11.50.

You can turn this card into a RAID controler using the modifcation
techniques found HERE.

I wonder what it feels like to be someone who actually paid full price for real fasttrak 66.

Shipping info

$8 for Second Day Air or Three Day Select
$6 for Ground (UPS)
$21 for Next Day Air

Guess they don't use USPS Priority Mail...with Insurance, under $4.

the topic is missleading...it's a regular U66 adapter that you can turn into a RAID0/1 controller. on the same token, i don't see people advartising GeForce 2 Quadro for $XXX with link to GTS and instructions how to turn GTS into Quadro.

To make a quadro, glue two GTS 2 together, stacked with IC chip facing one another with a hot glue gun. I remember seeing on Tom's Hardware site, I just can't seem to find it.

Never ceases to amaze me.. THey are selling a controller for $11.50 that can be modded EASILY to a $50.00 + card, and someone has to complain that they can't get it shipped for $4.00. It only costs $4.00? What about the boxes? the peanuts? the invoices? the ink? the employee boxing them up? Their $8.00 UPS shipping is very reasonable. Get a grip.

Onvia Still has these new for 20.58 which includes a 66 cable. That is final cost, shipping is free from onvia. I just bought mine. Works great.

USPS is not friendly to business. AT ALL. UPS picks up. Not a big mystery.

USPS does pickup....they go to nearly every home or office everday. They will even make special trips if you are shipping Priority Mail.

the results from turning a Geforce/Geforce2 into a Quadro were very very small in gaming, less than %5 increase in fps. (so from 60fps you'd go to 63, oh yippy) And you have to solder all kinds of $hit to your $100-$300 video card, not worth the risk.

no, you didn't need to "glue two GTS 2 together", it was just a couple of resistors kinda deal like the Promise raid card.

you know this might not be such a bad deal for only $17.50 total, even if you screw it up you're not out that much money.

i've never used raid before, can i partition a raid drive? I mean, when using raid, two drives would appear as one to the OS (right?), so if I make a 6 gig partition, does that mean 3 gigs is on one drive and the other 3 is on another drive?

um...hope these are the older U66 cards with an older bios chip..the newer ones don't let you flash to fastrak66...

btw...you don't get a cable nor driver disk at this price.

someone on the forums tried to flash one of the newer boards...tried 4 times and failed...couldn't flash it because the bios chip size was decreased...but of course, it could just be him :)
