12" Laptop

I'm looking for a 12" PC Laptop, as I just sold off my Powerbook.

I've been eyeing a Thinkpad x31, as it's just around my budget.... The only problem with it is that it doesn't have a dvd/cd drive built in...

I'd like to spend no more than $800

Any recommendations?

You hit it right on the head. The Thinkpad X31 is perfect. Not having a dvd/cd drive built in is not such a bad thing. I own a x31 and its portability is second to none. Just get yourself an external optical drive and your good to go.

The battery lasts about an hour and a half. The battery is the original battery and is going on 3 years old this April, and has 400 cycles. Originally it held about 4 hours.

I agree, an X30 line should fit your needs perfectly (minus the optical drive being built-in, that is.)
I got one for my girlfriend, and she'd still be happily using it if she didn't take my T41 I just upgraded from.

I still like the keyboard on that model more than the T41 or T42p that I'm using now.
It's more solid, like the 600 series. good luck, and enjoy...

HP NC4010, or similar.
I'm using one now, and it's one heck of a laptop. The lack of an internal optical drive is a drag, though.
I think they're about 800$ (750$ if you wait for a sale) at geeks.com
