Fritzo,

I would just sell the docking station...these are no longer made and damn near impossible to find. You should fetch $50 easy for just that. I do not see why you would sell your Nomad IIc though, I love mine and will never give it up. I have 10-15 64 meg & 128 meg smartmedia cards, that is somewhat of an investment!!!

I also did the Meijer PM. Now to BVG..hopefully this thing will be less than $25 when I'm done!!!

I tried their 4.00G firmware. I think it's good. Boot time is about same, and total new interface, I think you need to read Jukebox 3's manual for that. Now, you use "up and down" for the volume control - that's a lot of better.

Excellent, my .com order shipped. Too bad we aren't getting either the Nomad JB2 or JB3 with USB 2.0 or FireWire connector, but fast and cheap don't always go together. ;\

I just tried the 4.0 firmware--WOW! It took about 10 seconds to install and works great! (Maybe a 2 second addition to start time, if that. So much better imo. Actually, there's even an update to that here. With this update, you get a few extra features from the one at the link above, PLUS the ability to switch back and forth to your old OS if you want.

And CharlieBorg--what a GREAT link to Notmad! Now this thing is everything I wanted in a jukebox. Not bad for $75!

No need for the IIc with this, plus my camera takes smart media, so no waste there 🙂.

If I understand correctly, it's possible to run either the 4.0 OS or the 2.9x OS, both installed at once, right?

That's so odd, never heard of any embedded device "dual-boot". 😉

For you Atlanta area folks.. the Douglasville Best buy still has some in stock..

NO CC in the West Atlanta area have any to pricematch though.. i got the last one in douglassville CC 🙂

Yes, that's exactly correct. Personally, once I switched to the new OS, I didn't reinstall the old OS to have the dual-boot option. Who needs it? I'd rather use that space for music. BTW, the new OS allows you to delete the "built in" songs which used to be locked in the old OS.

These puppies are showing up on flea-bay (as expected). "UPC's carefully removed" -- they are selling for over $150!

I am getting this thing for its lin in recording abilities. I am looking for a computerless mp3 encoding solution and this seems like the best/cheapest solution. Does this thing have a schedule for recording? I suspect that this feature does not exist, but it would be nice.

It is waiting for pickup at my B&M, going to apply the 10% off coupon. Not bad for $95 ($249 - 10% coupon - $150 rebate + tax.

is anyone hosting these rebates - or when do they expire. I have ordered two for pickup but I wont be able to get to them for another 10 days or so. bestbuy is no longer selling these, so no link to the rebate. If anyone knows where I can get them I would really appreciate it, thanks.

nevermind, found them in bestbuys reabte center. they expire the 7th... looks like my plan to cancel my order and rebuy them for $250 - 10% off may not work...

I picked up a rain check for these because my store never had them...

Today I got a letter from BB that said 'the product you requested has not been received!'... it continues with a DEAR VALUED CUSTOMER letter that states they can no longer get these... it ends with a we are able to offer you a comparable substitute (same quality or better product) at the same advertised price. Please bring this letter into out store and present to any salesperson who will assist you...

The bummer is that the letter states that the price was 249 - it does not mention the after rebate price being $99.

Does anyone here work at best buy? Since the rebates are over what do you think my odds of walking out with a Nomad 2 for $99 are?!?!
