Starting 12/1, Best Buy has the Nomad 10gb Jukebox for $249.99 - $50MIR-$50MIR-$50MIR = $99.99. They must be clearing space for the Zen. Not a shabby price at all, although those 3 separate $50 MIRs scare me somewhat.

You are correct. Thanks. My bad. The Best Buy must be the original model. I'll delete the review.

No idea. The flyer I received in the mail this morning just states 3 x $50 mail in rebates. That is one heck of a lot of big dollars rebates to have your money tied up in. That's why I'm hesitating on this deal.

I think he is referring to the Best Buy 10% off coupon that was in PC World and a couple of other magazines.

I have the 6 gb model. This thing is the sole reason several battery companies are still in business. I finally bought NiMH's and I have to keep a set charged at all times as it sucks them down pretty quick also. I am waiting for a high capacity model that uses something other than a laptop hard drive. These are neat though!!!

CompUsa has a nomad 10 gb jukebox on sale starting tomorrow as well. I cannot be sure its the same model number, as CompUsa didnt give the model number in the ad. CompUSA's is 249 as well. Would be sweet if you could PM to BB and get your 150 off without going through rebates, but I think this may be a stretch....

No. The flyer does not state whether they are manufacturers rebates or Best Buy rebates or a combination of both. Just three $50 MIRs.

The CompUSA is a Nomad Jukebox 2. According to the flyer I received.

You can order the BestBuy Nomad 1 jukebox that is on sale through their Website now...
I ordered for local pickup so I could use the extra 10% off coupon (a non incidental $25
off a net $100 in this case). However, I suspect this is a sucker bet, and that by the time
my in-store request is processed, there will be no more instore to sell me...

No rebate forms online, which could be a problem. I believe BestBuy.com usually has separate rebate claims than the B&M.

My local Best Buy does the right thing and reserves any products I order on the web site in a holding area. If the 3 rebate forms don't show up on the web site imminently, you're probably better off convincing the clerk to do a regular in-store purchase when you pickup (online orders for pickup automatically lapse after 7 days).

Edit:
Here's one favorable review of the original 6 GB model. The two things that jumped out are the large size of the unit and the comment that you can RW/FF in an MP3 track?! Also, the USB 1.x interface is going to be quite slow. I'm still hesitant to order since the web site shows no rebates.

This is reason enough that we should all pass on this... THIS IS NO IPOD!!!!

also... when did BestBuy become BIGLOTS?!? This is an old unit being sold at the price of the new model with the entire deal depending on actually getting the 3 $50 rebates...

Oh please. Every time there's a thread on an mp3 player, people start comparing it to the iPod. Yes, the iPod is far, far cooler. However, the 10 gig ipod is THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE! Not exactly an even comparison.

Too many rebates kills the deal for me. It's bad enough trying to get one, let alone three. Not worth the hassle.

Plus, I think I transferring files at USB 1.1 would be very annoying. I just get annoyed at how long it takes to upload 128mb of pics from my digital camera. Now multiply that by 1000x.

The rebates are up, and they total to $200. Different addresses (PO boxes). One requires copy of UPC, other box top, other box bottom. Only catch is there's a misprint on the date for rebate #1 - see bestbuy site for details.

If all are valid, then this brings the final price to $50+tax which ain't bad.
