117' CPU Temp WTF?!?

I've been having Warcraft crash on me, so I am busy investigating what the cause may be. So, among many other things, I got rid of MSI Core Cell, AMD Cool'n'Quiet Driver, and disabled it in the BIOS. I don't overclock (no need for Warcraft).

Reseting my PC shows a CPU Temp of 55' in the BIOS. However both MBM5 and SpeedFan say my CPU Temp is 117'! Motherboard is at 41'. I just read another post that at 99' the computer would even run, so this has got to be wrong... right? I put my finger on the heatsink and it is mild/warm.

Specs:
MSI K8T Neo2
MSI 6600GT 128MB
AMD 64 3500+ (Stock Fan)
512MB x 2 Corsair DDR400

Windows 2000 SP4

Any ideas?

I'm certainly not an expert on the subject, but is it possible that the temps are being reported in Fahrenheit instead of Celsius?

what BIOS are you running because these boards are renowned for reporting the wrong temps.

but on the other hand your game is crashing, there is a chance that your CPU is overheating, but not to the extant to the readings you are getting .. you might need to update the BIOS and also try and reseat the CPU heatsink as this could not be making full contact..
