For my government class, I have to type a 5 pg opinion piece on whether I think the war in Iraq was "worth it" as he put it. This is interesting, I've never done research on such a current topic before. I guess I'll dig around in some sources like Time Magazine, newspapers, etc, as per his suggestion, but I don't really know what I'm looking for. Other than addressing things like the search for weapons of mass destruction, etc, I don't know why kind of research I can do here, it just seems like it's all opinion. Maybe talk a bit about the first Persian Gulf War?

Anyone know where I can find the exact info on what Saddam was "not complying with" in terms of his resolution with the UN? Any other tips you can provide?

Edit-I think the thing I'm having most trouble finding is what exact points in the UN resolution did Saddam violate, to supposedly start all this mess? We all know the general idea, but I need specifics and sources...and I can't find any.

You should have plenty to write about, as this is a very complex issue. You have the history of the middle east and how the Iraqi war fits in because, like it or not Iraq is just a small part of many larger issues. As far as being "worth it", that is dumb question because nobody could ever say what would have happened had we not invaded Iraq. Also, this war has not ended, so how can we say that results are "worth it". What is he asking? "worth it" in the short term or long term?

That's a good question, I asked him this, he wasn't terribly clear, but I think it's just basically saying "k, we got Saddam out of power, that's good, but at what expense, and is getting Saddam out worth that expense?"

Talk about the fact that the war sets the precedent for the 2nd Civil War to happen in 2004 followed by Nuclear WW in the year 2015.

Hmm...well the War in Iraq killed U.S. Troops, Iraqi Troops, spent alot of our money, gave the gas companies a reason to jack up prices...and all for what? So that the Iraqis that we "liberated" could shoot our troops and throw riots in the street, so their kids could pick up rifles and eliminate the "infidels" who freed them. Sorry, I just found out one of my friends was killed over in Bagdad last night. I used to be a conservative, and support Bush, but now Bush can just go suck on a power cable.
