110 Termination using solid or stranded wire

Is there any preference in wire type to use for punch down patch panel (stranded or solid)?

Is it the same punch down tool for both types?

I would think stranded is better for installation and pulling wire purposes.

I know that terminating to a rj-45 connector with stranded cable is allot harder.

Any problems making home made patch cables with solid wire?

I am having a contractor (electrician) pull the wires and terminate the plug ends into a wall jack in the office spaces, and the other ends left grouped and hanging in an area where I will terminate them to a punch down patch panel. I was then going to make my own patch cables using solid (for ease) wire. Any problems with this idea?

Solid.

Stranded is used for short patches that need to be flexible.

Otherwise, Stranded Cable is not as good as the Solid; it degrades the signal with length.

Solid.

Panels are not meant for any kiind of stranded and the contact will likely be "flakey" (to coin a technical term).

FWIW

thank you Both, thats kinda what I figured. I was planing on using it anyway from a terminating point of view anyway.
