Is there any preference in wire type to use for punch down patch panel (stranded or solid)?
Is it the same punch down tool for both types?
I would think stranded is better for installation and pulling wire purposes.
I know that terminating to a rj-45 connector with stranded cable is allot harder.
Any problems making home made patch cables with solid wire?
I am having a contractor (electrician) pull the wires and terminate the plug ends into a wall jack in the office spaces, and the other ends left grouped and hanging in an area where I will terminate them to a punch down patch panel. I was then going to make my own patch cables using solid (for ease) wire. Any problems with this idea?
